Hey guys,

I am a happy new owner of a wiiu, im still getting the hang of it.
My last console was a N64 which I used up untill now to game..

I found this forum when I was looking for ways to "hack" it so I could play downloaded/copied games.
The information is overwhelming and honestly I have no idea where to start.

so if someone would please be so kind to shed some light, I would be ever so grateful.

Is it even possible to have downloaded wiiu games?
What is the safest way to play those without the risk of bricking it?
Which tutorial would you recommend for the safest way to do this?

I am sorry I am quite the idiot when it comes to this stuff, your help is much appreciated though!!

As of now the Wii U Cannot be hacked or softmodded.

BUT, you can hack vWii ( Wii part of the Wii U ) to enable homebrew etc.

Here a good guide, take your time to do it.

To be honest it is as simple as hacking a Wii ( probably simpler! )
This is also a handy tool to have: http://www.wii-homebrew.com/download/nintendo-wii-downloads/pc-tools/uhg-downloader/
YOU WILL NEED ONE OF THE SPECIFIC WII GAMES TO PERFORM THE EXPLOIT.

Here is also a great guide:

Dank u zeer !!

This is very useful info, I honestly had no idea where to start with this one.
I've never hacked anything before either, but I would very much like to play all sorts of games, so thank you very much for the help!

Ive been playing N64 up untill now, I got mine in 96 or 97, can't really remember. I was about 11 years old.
I played for a good few years, then I moved out of the parents home I took it with me. Been playing it again sinze then, which is now 10 years ago.

I owned an Xbox 360 at some stage, but never really liked the games on it. I am a true Mario and Zelda fan.

I work as a hardware engineer for a big IT company so I do recognize a lot of terms, Knowing HW makes me really sucky in sw :(

The answer to your first question is yes but they have to be downloaded from the E Shop if your looking to play N64 you can use Wii Shop to get some classic games
