First I am hearing of it but then I do not watch TV anymore or "normal" news.

Any and all transactions I do in cash (online purchases these days I give cash to people for and they use theirs). I have used mine once and that was only because the machines en route were busted (the fact anything I get paid for comes in cash nowadays is even better).

Coins: most of the time used for machines, to make up numbers and as a makeshift weapon (nailing aggressive 16 year old/junkie between the eyes with a 20p (or better an old style 50) and watching them scramble for it is priceless).
Failing that when I realise I have enough to do my shopping for the week with them.

@thaigrocer the UK government decided it would be too much of a risk (read tax dodge) so the UK was not signed up (most people I know have Eu accounts in fun places anyway or do the perpetual traveller ).

As for my opinion: meh, a coin is a coin. Provided they work in machines I do not care.

Fucking awful.

What happened to the Two Pound coin, that one was my favourite?

EDIT: lol I have a favourite coin, what does that say about me?

Obsessive person?

Beautiful coins.

Hear hear! It's a ridiculous design. Why can't we keep thing the way they are? We always have to change the things that work right.

I never use a card for anything less than a fiver unless I get caught out running low on cash; a lot of shops don't accept it anyway. And I *hate* getting stuck in a queue behind some div who's paying for one bottle of shampoo on a credit card; some of those machines are well slow.
