Hacking New Super Mario Bros. Wii

I'm getting a blackscreen when loading from USBLoaderGX (r838). The .iso I'm trying to run is PAL scrubbed/removed update partition, ripped by a group called Nitro. I'm on a console with 3.2E (purchased in Q1-Q2 2007 if that matters). Not sure which IOSes/cIOSes I have installed, it's been a while since I messed around with all that.

Anyone got any tips for how to solve this?

Your trying to run the PAL version on a NTSC console?

Try turning on all of the following in the games individual settings menu.

ERROR 002 = ON
VIDEOPATCH = ON
FORCE NTSC = ON

Go into the usbloader gx settings and find the credits tab.In the upper right hand corner of the credits screen it will tell you what cios you have.

Should say 249 rev14 or something like that

ah I think I got it working now anyway. I turned the 002 error fix on, which I didn't think of doing before since it didn't actually show me an error, just a black screen.

will try playing now and hopefully it won't crash down the line. cheers.

Can someone confirm whether or not installing cIOS38Rev15 will affect my other backups? This is the reason I haven't tried to get NSMB working yet on my softmodded 3.2u.

I'm also pretty sure I haven't updated my cIOS for a while now

The game works fine using CiosRev14 if you use the right patch.

*That's if your play from disc*

usb loaders will play it with Rev14 fine as well.

Just wanted to confirm that New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii_USA_PROPER_FiX_Wii-iND is working with the unscrubbed (yes you have to download 4 gigs) QWiif USA NTSC release.

No Trucha bugged IOS 53 was needed

Loads fine from disc channel, been playing for over an hour, no probs.

So much trouble so i just bought it.I want to confirm that the orifinal play without a problem in a wii + wiikey v1-1.9s.I was afraid that there will be a problem because i have a modchip but everything is ok.

So i can confirm it will work from a disc with this new patch using neogamma r7 or r8b12 with cios rev14 and the latest ios53 without trucha.


You can tell a difference in the speed of the game when playing it from disc as apposed to usb.Plus the music hanging issue.

I stand (or sit) corrected. I see now. You have some IOS's I do not. For me, it doesn't matter anyway. I need hardmod compatability.

I tried, New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii_USA_PROPER_FiX_Wii-iND will not work with the scrubbed image because the md5 hashes do not match up. You must use the unscrubbed NTSC iso.

Hi! I think im gonna buy it too. I see that you should have a PAL since you are from greece. I dont have a modchip but my wii is softmoded and i'm on a 4.1 system menu. I don't want to update, when i i softmoded my wii my friend told me that i should nevre update agaiN!. Is it possible to skip the update from the disc? If so, you have to do it everytime?

Yes i have a PAL wii.I have 4.2E the latest update so the game didn't ask me to update.I am not sure if you can play this game without the update.
I think there's a solution for the softmod and the 4.2 update.

Anyways, @all the Wii-iND-Patchers: I won't include this patch on the first post, because we already have the PPF Patches from VKI, and these don't require an full ISO, work for every release, and are the same as the Wii-iND Patch, as far as I know.

So.. was anyone with a D2CKey able to play the game from the disc anyhow?

Tried most of the methods here and I always get a green screen.. starting to think the problem is related to the modchip.. :/

AFAIK i've got a D2CKey. Game loads but crashes after 10 mins through the disk channel (clean ISO, 4.2 virgin)

SOftmodded using the guide, using cIOS rev 14 and neogamma (latest) it works fine. Still crashes after 10 mins through the normal disk channel.
