After I updated my Wii from 4.1u to 4.2u (made sure to update homebrew channel first) I can't load DopIos anymore. The screen just goes black when I try to select it from the homebrew channel

Is there any other way to mess with my ios files?

Try "Pimp My Wii" or the "Trucha Bug Restorer" to get IOS15 downgraded and a patched IOS36 going.
You should be able to run DopISO MOD then. The MOD lets you select what IOS to use, I believe regular DopIOS tries to use IOS249 which is a stub IOS in 4.2

Actually I guess I was using an outdated version of dopios because I installed DopIos MOD and its working, however it is asking me which ios to use to install other IoS's. Which one do I pick? and what steps do I take after that?

Thanks for any help!

It might be easier to get it working if you used the NTSC release if you're running 4.2U. like effbee said earlier, the 4.2 update kills the region-free features on many mod-chips so you might run into trouble trying to run the PAL release.
Okay I'll try that and report back. But is my IOS patching correct?

Thanks,

~ Jon

4.2 stubs IOS249, Use DOP-IOS MOD and choose IOS36 to load off of. Should be good to go.

OK this is for Disc Loaders ONLY!!!

I FINALLY got this game working so Im going to give you very easy steps on how to get it to work

1) Download and burn (at 2x) the PATCHED/fixed ISO

2) Install cIOS v.15

3) Load your disc using ULoader

I PROMISE you it worked for me for 99% chance it will work for you

Retail discs will always work unless you're missing or screwed up the required IOS (I think NSMB uses IOS53, don't quote me on that), or scuffed the disc.

So with original retail discs they behave the same whether or not
the drivekey chip is enabled/disabled?

I need help getting the PAL version of this game to run through the Disc Channel on my hardmodded Wii. I realized I need to trucha sign my IOS53 and IOS70 (cuz im on 4.2U right?) I can get the game to run through Neogamma R8 Beta 7 perfectly so I have HBC and BootMii and stufff like that. I ran DOP-IOS MOD, selected to load off of IOS249, Select IOS53 (the latest on DOP-IOS is actually old but it should still work?) I selected YES to install & YES to install with Sig Hash (Trucha patch right?) and it completed the install. Did the exact same for IOS 70. Went to the Disc channel I get: Disc Cannot Be Read. It did that even before I patched IOS53 & IOS70.

If all else fails, I can always just stick with NeoGamma but I'd rather have it launch straight from teh Disc Channel. I have 2 releases of this ISO. 1 labeled: [Wii]New_Super_Mario_Bros[PAL][FIX WORKS ON USBLOADER_DVD][******.com] and the other: [Wii]New_Super_Mario_Bros[PAL][******.com]

Do I have the wrong releases? I can download new ones, don't tell me the site, just the release name and group. (That's not breaking rules right?)

Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

~ Jon

try trucha bugging ur other basic ios's too (sig hash-yes) 36,37,55,60 .. because it should work (unless don't have a chip)

i can tell u it works for me via patched iso through the normal disc channel using wiikey v.1 1.9s firmware, my wii is on 4.1e firmware

Thanks for all the instructions here. I ripped my own backup of the game using Waninkoko's DVD Dumper via wifi and played it unpatched on my Wii with the following setting:

Here are the details of my experiences, and hope it will help anyone going through the same and having to figure out what to do.

First Play
======
- Unpatched ISO of game (PAL)
- Wiikey 2 available
- Waninkoko's cIOS rev14 installed
- System menu 4.1E (I even ran the official update that came with the game. No issues at all, and not upgraded to 4.2E)
- Load game via system menu
>> Outcome - Plays well for more than 1/2 hr no crashes.

Second & Third Play
=============
- Same as above
>> Outcome - Keeps crashing with "Eject" error message on a black screen.

Fourth and all future plays
=================
- Same configuration
- Load via NeoGamma R8 Beta 7
>> Outcome - Plays well without issues.

Hope this helps and happy gaming!

Confirmed working on 3 Wii's system menu 4.1, things I did:
softmoded with xzxero's guide
cIOS rev 15 (I had to install this because I was getting a green screen and reboot back to Wii menu)
NeoGamma R8Beta7
Using patched PAL copy of NSMBW (Had to use a patched version because I was getting the black screen + white text after 10 or so minutes of gameplay)

What's not working for you? If you're having problems with ULoader make sure you have the disc in your drive FIRST. ULoader will spend a few seconds scanning for a USB drive then it will tell you to press "2" to start up your disc.

Uloader 3.1b works with disc

Im using an NTSC console with burned PAL game
cIOS rev15
Default Uloader settings

Game starts up
Seems to be working perfectly

Neogamma didnt work at all, with any type of setting, not on cIOS rev 13, 14, or 15
Im going to use ULoader for everything now

I'm starting to think 80% of softmod users that can't get it to work aren't using the new version of neogamma/Uloader or cIOS rev15.

well until rev15 stops telling me it is unable to read disk on all my backups, i'm not gonna use it. seems like the people that can use rev15 are able to play this on disk the others have to use sd/usb method. must be more to it than simply rev15

I really wish that whoever owns this thread's first post would update the softmod part with the instructions I posted. This would stop a lot of the confusion.
Yeah, I know 5 people now that now have it working with that method. I think it has something to do with cIOS rev15.

I have both the patched NTSC and PAL copies but being that I live in the United States my PAL copy is being neglected. As for the patching. My copies were prepatched .iso files that I got from a site I cant link to.
