double post that cooler89

He's obviously not going to take no notice of what you're saying, I'm glad anyway.

No, because it unlocks unencrypted reads in the normal DI module, among other things. Kinda like PatchMii
Marcan, so with a modchip, what will this IOS help, is it going to make reads more quicker, loading times quicker, etc. What?
Just wanting to know, as i have patchmii normal with libdi normal installed. (when i wouldn't ever insert a video DVD in anyway lol)

please explain...in laymans terms...or something that looks like laymans....if you feel like it?

I don't like waninkoko when he make himself as a god for a bunch of code put together but I certainly don't like when people like you come with their big head and start bashing other people abou their coding style, remind me those giggling geeks at computer class

I'm definitively asking myself if you don't have real ego problem ... feeling misunderstood maybe ?

Teaching people is respectful, belittleing them because you have more knowledge is just ridiculous, you will always find someone smarter than you

Jacobeian is right like, there is always going to be people better than others, and trying to show it*
i agree and disagree with the don't like Waninkoko, i agree he may release rubbish applications, but some of them are extremely useful, i mean wad manager is probably the most used application.
Along with the emulators, i mean these emus are amazing a few consoles in 1

You have got to give credit to those that release amazing applications!

Having fun waninkoko and marcan..

There is no doubt in anyone's mind that marcan and his team are better coders, but the bottom line is more people want piracy than want homebrew and that will never change. People like waninkoko and wiigator are releasing things that the majority wants, so in the end, they will get more praise and recognition regardless of how good their code is. Showing people how sloppy his code is or how much better it could be will not stop anyone from downloading his tools as long as they remain working. If you want to rewrite and re-release it fine, but this is not a coding competition. Obviously, this is about piracy. I don't recall waninkoko nor wiigator ever claiming to be masterful coders or better than anyone else. So as far as I see it, the only real issue here is jealousy over praise and recognition and like I said, people like them will get more of it in the end for releasing what the majority wants.

We also have to remind people that the backup loader was leaked and not released.

Im sure if you examined anyones code you would find an issue here and there or disagree with how things were constructed - no one is prefect. The point is Waninkoko is trying to help people and inputting positive feed into the community even after being screwed over.

He isnt griping and moaning about how much better than others he is , he is still writing code as a bit of fun and sharing his findings with others - you dont HAVE to use his code , thats entierly up to you, but his input is appreciated and his attempt to help the community instead of bitching about everything is also admired by a lot.

All i know is that since i dont code , your both better than me at that , but i have more respect for the person who helps freely.

goatnailer and djtaz, what you've said is very true,
It is all about piracy, but why not get a modchip, its a hell of allot easier.

I have a mod chip - thats done. I have 2 wii's and i use the unmoded one more.

I dont need any of this stuff, but i find it interesting and a bit of fun. Its not about the pirating because to be honest i dont really play the games , im more interested in seeing what else can be done with it.. thats the part that amuses me a lot more.

I also like to help out where i can which is why my sig has the best files i have tested and a simple step by step to make life easier for others - Im not a coder so this is one way i can have a positive input.

well this is my first post.
normaly i wouldnt post anything but felt i had to. i have been involved in all consoles and hacking since day 1. the first machine i owned was the zx80 then the zx81 i even upgraded the 16mb ram to 48..anyway i have seen things come and go and owned virtualy all consoles/systems.
and i have to say that in all the scenes i have been a part of this one is by far the most bitchy nd in totaly the wrong way. i can see both sides of the arguments between marcan, waninkoko and wiigator but what has ensued since is plain right silly.
firstly wether marcan like it or not a lot of homebrew is illegal. emulators although they dont still give the various companies revenue are still subject to the same laws. so installing a copy of the NES rom mario is JUST as illegal as putting in a burned backup copy of mario galaxy. just because mario galaxy is currently on sale and mario nes rom isnt doesnt make it any more legal. you can argue internaly all you want about it but LEGALY they are the same and come under the same copyright laws so please dont get on your high horse about 1 being worse than the other. the only people its worse for is nintendo and the reason you dont want them upsetting is they have the power to block your homebrew and hard work so far. secondly as for coding who cares if you can program better than waninkoko the fact is he is having a go. we all have to start somewhere and its usualy at the bottom and making it open source and working with others is the way we learn these things. i bet your first programming attempt wasnt exactly PHd material.
now for my personal preference. we all have our favourite coders etc and to be honest i have the backup loader installed to test and have 1 game backed up that i actualy own for testing purposes. i actualy much prefer the use of emulators to any backup loader so waninkoko isnt high in my list of what GBAtemp members seem to call gods.
now for another argument for nintendo who will say that they will lose revenue from the backup loader. one of my relatives bought a wii last xmas for his son and it came with wii sports. it is now almost 12 months he has had it and actualy owns yup you guessed it wii sports. nintendo wont lose a penny as my relative refuses to pay for for full price games. so if he did download illegal games (again i wouldnt advocate any piracy and would hope everyone paid for their games) then nintendo has lost absolutely nothing as the games he gets he wouldnt buy anyway.

so basicaly what i am trying to say is
1. ALL games wether they be backups or roms are as illegal as each other so please dont take the moral high ground marcan
2. good code or bad code at least its code. the more coders the better and we all have to start somewhere
3. PIRACY is bad so if you like a game then BUY IT!!!!!!!!!
4. just becuase a backup loader exists isnt a bad thing its just another thing so get o board and help out (not at marcan a his feelings are allready known lol) this is aimed at other coders who dont want to take the moral highground or the i'm a better coder than you are ner ner ner ner ner..

peace out

The new CIOs install automatically when you launch the installer. dol?

[ REQUISITES ]:

- "IOS36-64-v1042.wad" original WAD file.

[ HOW TO INSTALL IT ]:

- Copy "IOS36-64-v1042.wad" file to the root of a SD card.
- Insert the SD card on your Wii.
- Run the installer.

So now that everything about this topic that could have been said, has been said. Can we lock it, stop the bitching and get back to Wii hacking & homebrew?

MEM1 has issues with certain peripherals, and also certain writes to MEM1 are "problematic". I don't have a concrete characterization but I do know that a ton of weird stuff happens (i.e. fails) when you try to run Starlet code, and in particular when you try to write data in non-32bit steps. IOS's memcpy function has specific code to deal with copy "tails" using 32-bit writes for MEM1. USB also doesn't work right from MEM1.

I don't think "coding style" means what you think it means. There's clean coding, and there's ugly coding. Then there's good coding and bad coding. Waninkoko writes bad, relatively clean code. Hermes (who wrote sndlib among other things) writes quite a bit uglier code, but it's definitely good (and he knows what he's doing, unlike Waninkoko).

I love how people keep mentioning WAD Manager. It's a tool designed for piracy, used for piracy, optimized for piracy. And functionally it doesn't do much more than make it easy for pirates to use IOS's (and libogc's) title installing functions. Sure, it's probably one of the most popular pieces of wii homebrew, because piracy is popular. That's hardly a compliment in my book.

I think if you look deeper you'll find that Waninkoko's story may not be that simple. Do remember that he was (is?) involved with Infectus. That has some very interesting implications regarding the copy loader and his other apps. I'm not going to start making up weird conspiracy theories, but you're being naive if you think that all of this is as simple as it looks. There's definitely more to the story than we've seen.
