Not 100% sure but I don't think its safe. Afaik YEM1015 is the last safe one.

I went to two different gamestops yesterday and tried to look for a 9.0-9.2 model of the new 3ds xl. I had very little luck. The first one was a QW1124 which I couldn't even find on the list, and the other was a Hyrule Edition QW1125 which I also couldn't find on the list. I'm starting to get the feeling that this late in the year that all of the 9.0-9.2 models have either been cycled out of the stock or scalped. Should I just bother to hold onto this 9.9 Hyrule edition xl or keep trying for that chance? I feel like it'd be a waste of time.

I already have an old3ds 10.1, the only reason I even bought the new3ds in the first place was ONLY because I wanted the ability to use custom firmware.

Found a shop on eBay, which sells new N3DS (Black) with YEM1007, but list says YEM1007 is a white one. Does it still have the right firmware or is the owner telling me something wrong?

Some of the serials come in multiple colours; colours are added to the list as they are reported. An unopened black YEM1007 is likely on 9.0 firmware.
