Hacking N3DS XL Firmware by version number

So what stores can you browse the boxes of the N3DS for their firmware numbers? Anyone know?

after the purchase, and still at the counter, look at the box, and ask for a different one if it doesn't match the ones you think are "safe".

Before successfully finding the QW4017 system at Target, I bought one black N3DS XL (QW4022) from GameStop that came with 9.4. Unfortunately, I didn't know this list existed before buying the first unit otherwise, I'd have skipped buying that from GameStop entirely. I am going to see about reselling as GameStop doesn't accept returns of opened items.

I have a question: I got mine at Gamestop, and it wasn't sealed. Is this normal? Only thing that was sealed were the AR cards. It took a few seconds to turn on first time, so that may indicate a factory-fresh system.

Bought my from target, no security seals on my, Only manual and ar cards work in plastic wrap, 3ds was in a foam like packet.

Here's a way to indicate a returned system:
If you see a 3d demonstration video at the end of the home menu, the system is factory-formatted and new. If not, it was formatted by a prior user.

9.1 was a JAP only firmware update and some later consoles came with this out of the box (I believe any consoles >=QJF2038)

Open it REALLY carefully and take a look at the firmware. If it's too high format it, put everything back and return it saying it was a gift and they REALLY wanted it in another color. Worked for me lol
