Well This Sucks... My Little Brother Just Got a Letter from freaking Sony(3 Days Later) telling us That our internet is getting shut down because cause he downloaded an Illegal Copy of Tekken 5 on the PS2 and we have the dang game(So Retarted)
so Sony Called our internet company and had them shut our Internet down and they flagged our MAC Address and My
Dad got Uber Pissed so Now im using My android Phone for my internet.

Oh and imgine how they would react on a PS1 game
they will go beserk lol

Not sure if it's a joke, but they can do that as long as the isp doesn't give dynamic ip's.

Same exact thing happened to me, except it was Tekken Tag, and I was in college.

edit: And I had the game too, but for the sake of argument, it was on CD and my PS2 didn't read CDs.

Hmmmm. Most isp's will give you a warning first. I once got a notice from charter about a paramount movie. They didnt cut internet, buy gave us a warning. Also, use trusted sources and/ or private trackers for torrents.

I never torrented anything ever again, (I) don't trust that shit AT ALL.

Torrents are actually safe, when using a private tracker. Public trackers however are a bad idea.

It's not so much that a company can get information, but that they track certain torrents. Whoever runs Namco's anti-piracy squad clearly bugs a lot of shady public torrents.

(the implication being that torrents on private trackers are thoroughly checked for 'cleanliness')

edit: also, my school's dean actually showed me the cease and desist letter for a moment. It wasn't from Namco, it was from 'Sun something something'. I wish I had remembered, it certainly wasn't a legal office.

Not true. It's only legal to make a backup of your own personal disk. You can't get it from the internet for any reason.

you really shouldn't sweat it. I've gotten several letters from my isp in the past. the one that made me laugh the most was when i got a letter about downloading an episode of biggest loser when it was available for free from the tv stations website. i've never gotten my internet disconnected or been sued. going forward try to use private trackers. i've never gotten a letter since i've stopped using public trackers.

I've downloaded multiple torrents and anime, and have never been caught, and i've been pirating since I was 9

I guess I'm just lucky.. make sure your brother's using trusted sites, and maybe search up a few things about being safe with torrents.
