hey there!
yesterday i took my 3ds and tried to play Animal Crossing New Leaf, but when the message "Preparing your town" appears, it loads or like one second and then my 3ds crashes. I aslo tried to use the other villager in my island but same thing. What should i do? i tried literally everything i could found on this website and on Reddit.
tysm!

That's a very interesting crash (PC is being corrupted), if it's caused just because of a currupted save, it could be exploitable... 👀

You can try restoring an old backup with checkpoint or FBI. If that doesn't work, maybe it's a corrupted SD.

What do u think?
I think you have no idea what you're doing.

I tried ur suggestion, LeafEdit logs say that cant load the rail crossing because (somehow) its missing, so imma open a new thread where i ask for some garden_plus files, i confront them, and then replace the corrupted line on the old file with the other users' one.
For starters, why do you need new garden_plus files? There are surely already thousands of them out there on the Internet. But aside from that, you already said you can start a new game on your system, so why not just use your own freshly-generated garden_plus file?

More to the point, how exactly do you think you're going to find this "corrupted line"? It's nice that LeafEdit supplies logs, but the data in the file isn't human-readable. Like I said, you're going to have to look at the source code for these save game editors to determine exactly how "rail crossing" data is stored.

Are you sure no one's encountered this problem before? If you tell people on the appropriate Animal Crossing message boards (who might have more experience with this kind of thing than people here) that you can't load your file because LeafEdit says it can't load the rail crossing, you're much more likely to get an intelligent response than you would by saying "my AC:NL copy doesn't work anymore".

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
