From GoNintendo:

The following information comes from a Nintendo Dream interview with Satoshi Sakai, producer on the title. Huge thanks to Matt for the heads up!

- completely new title taking place in brand-new world
- gameplay heavily based on Phantasy Star Online, but with a different presentation
- Sega went with the DS due to the wide range of players
- “Zero” was used in the title to help players this of this as a fresh start
- you will be able to play online with people that aren’t real-life friends
- no voice chat or vibration
- it is possible that PSO’s world select feature will be used, but it has no been confirmed
- no symbol chat in this game, due to the ability to create custom messages with your stylus
- expect many familiar items and techniques
- developers are really hoping this game brings back fond memories of previous entries in the series

You say that now, but a week after the game's out everybody will be complaining that something is cheap or somebody is cheating. It's always the same with online gaming, only the DS' wifi infrastructure doesn't support the sort of patching and oversight mandated by the PC and derivative consoles.

My excitement for the game is sadly short lived by the inevitable hacking and cheating that will take place. If you've played Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Hell, there were codes that would reset the targeted players Dreamcast! Even still, I have vivid memories of being the victim a BSOD immediately following a boss kill, which resulted in me not getting items, experience, etc. It was a terrible experience... until I went out and purchased an Action Replay Disk
