If you were active in the 3DS community online for the first months from the launch of the original console in 2011 (or again for the New 3DS in 2015), you likely remember various photo sets online that utilize a unique feature that has never made it to another Nintendo console. The 3DS allows you to freely import both 2D and stereoscopic 3D images and videos onto the handheld via the SD card, making it quite a decent 3D media player. Many artists and photographers used this feature to create 3D content specially for the 3DS, and distribute it online, where it could be downloaded to a PC and moved to the console's SD card. Some more savvy content creators used the 3DS Browser's ability to preview and download 3D images by reading QR codes or navigating an online gallery from the console itself, making saving their content even easier. After downloading, the images and videos are viewed in the pre-installed 3DS Camera app, which allows much higher resolution images than the console's native cameras offer.

The content is mostly video game related, and varies from original artwork based on video games, screenshots of video games such as Super Mario Galaxy or Uncharted from a 3D emulator (as a demo of how those games may have looked on the 3DS), Nintendo Virtual Boy screenshots and gameplay videos, and edited screenshots to add 3D depth to classic titles from the SNES, Sega Master System and Commodore 64. Outside of video games, there are photos from around the world of nature, landmarks, artwork, and female modeling, taken from both modern 3D cameras and stereo cards from past decades.

Now in 2019, virtually all creators behind this content have moved on to other mediums, and without file hosts being maintained, many sets of content have been left to rot and are gradually becoming unavailable due to broken links and defunct websites. Gaining an interest in stereoscopic 3D through the 3DS on the tail-end of its popularity, for the last year I've scoured the internet collecting every set I could find of content made specifically for the 3DS, and have also converted many 3D images for mainstream viewers to be compatible with the 3DS. I personally think that the 3DS is Nintendo's most well-developed console and is my favorite console in general, and the freedom it allows for user-generated content is one of the biggest reasons for it. Because of that, I think the creativity that's been produced though this niche medium should be archived.

TL;DR: I'm looking for any interest in the medium of fan-made, online content for the Nintendo 3DS that utilizes the stereoscopic 3D feature of the console. I hope to start my own content stream where I:

  1. Post information on links and sources of 3DS content that is currently available online. (Some content that could be considered NSFW does exist. Though I won't detail in this post, this type of content may be included, but will be denoted and listed separately.)

  2. Make content available that I've downloaded that has since gone defunct, or that I found among broken links or scattered across multiple sources or forums (Through downloadable archives on Dropbox and other file hosts).

  3. Create new, free content. This could include 3D photo sets converted for the 3DS, self-made screenshots of video games (such as Super Smash Bros., Super Mario Odyssey, Dead or Alive, or other games with screenshot modes and exporting), photography, and perhaps original artwork. What I make will depend entirely on the interest I receive.
I could achieve this by simply posting links to sources of content on Reddit and other active 3DS communities. If interest is strong enough I would also like to find my own platform to distribute original content. If you have any interest in checking out this kind of content, want a list of download links, or you just like the 3DS or 3D and wanna chat, don't hesitate. Thanks for reading!

Good point; perhaps I should have been more specific. I'm trying to archive 3D art for the 3DS. For photography, I'll only be including high quality, well composed sets of photos, not miscellaneous photos taken by amateurs, since low quality 3D is all over the place.

UPDATE: Unfortunately I'm a new user here, so I can't post links at the moment. However I've already posted a list on Reddit, in r/3DS, since I've gotten the most response from there so far.

there is a post limit ya need here. Go make some useful helps and chat. Just dont make any one word posts, cause you will lose post count quickly that way.
