@muffin, to play games just put the disc and ur wii and play it, lol. If u mean how do u get a usb-loader to work, just use the usb-loader setup feature AFTER using the ModMii Wizard.

@Twoacross, even though your Wii is not a virgin, tell the ModMii wizard that it is, this will ensure u have all the most recent softmods in place, just answer the remaining questions about your Wii truthfully and follow the resulting guide accordingly.

edit: first post updated with a new layout and some new content

no, that's not what I'm saying. I was referring to original discs... it was a joke really, u asked me how to play games in your Wii, and I gave u an answer that would work for all wii's, even those that are not modified.

If your wii is old enough to still have a dvd drive capable of playing backup discs, u can either 1) use neogamma or 2) install darkcorp to use the disc channel or 3) use configurable usb-loader to launch the disc (even though its a usb-loader it can still handle launching discs). I recommend u use a usb-loader over backup discs anyways. Original wii discs run @ 6x speed, backup discs run @ 3x speed, and usb-loaders run games faster than both.

edit: btw dvd-r's work better

well, darkcorp is not supported by modmii, any problems related to darkcorp should be asked in the darkcorp thread, not ModMii's. I've recently heard other people having similar problems to yours... so rest assured ur not the only one... but I'm not sure what is causing the problem.

If u must play games off of a backup disc then I recommend u just use neogamma. U can even install a system menu channel for it if u don't like launching it via the HBC, and if u prefer, there is an autoboot version kicking around that will just boot the game straight away without taking u to the neogamma menu first.

Here are some helpful neogamma links:

Hi! I'm trying to use ModMii to extract games for sneek (using the game bulk extractor). But unfortunately, It said everytime I have no enough free space on my USB device. But I have free space!!And it's the same thing for every paths I tried... (And I use the version 4.3.4 in french or english it's the same).
in the last changelog, the "non-english settings", which settings is it?

Did I miss something? What's wrong? i'm using Modmii regularly and it's the firts time I have a problem...But It's really encouraging for this app very complete!!! thanks
So I fixed this problem for people with French language settings in windows, but before releasing an update...

MODMII NEEDS YOUR HELP!
...I'd like to ask the community to test some other languages so that I don't need to keep putting out updates to fix the same problem.

please copy and past the following code into a new txt document
Code:
dir>test.txt
Then rename it to whatever.bat (instead of whatever.txt). Then double click it, it will create a new test.txt file and the last line of text should look something like this
QUOTE said:
11 Dir(s) 62,217,117,696 bytes free

I've highlighted the things to check in red.

The most important thing to check for is the deliminator. In English its a comma (,), in german/greek its a period (.) and in french its some weird "y" looking symbol (ÿ). If the deliminator for the language your testing is NOT a comma, a period or ÿ please let me know asap.

Another thing to check for is if the last character before the numbers is ")" and if the first string after the numbers is "bytes", if this is the case then that is good, if it is anything different, let me know (I suspect this should be the case for all languages, so it should be an easy/quick check)

If you don't understand what I am asking you to check, just post the contents of test.txt along with which language you used to create it.

How to change your windows language settings:
To change your language settings (if you want to test languages other than the one you normally use), go to your control panel--> regional and language settings-->languages tab-->details-->change language (if your running windows 7, u can just go to your start menu and type "language" and a link will appear taking u directly to the right place without needing to open the control panel).

Any testing people do would be greatly appreciated, I would like to have a checklist of languages confirmed to work and once it seems like I got them all working I'll put out a ModMii update with the fix (and probably a new/faster USB-Loader forwarder channel)

Here is a list of languages I've personally tested and confirmed working:
-English
-French
-German
-Greek
-Turkish

edit: I will continue to add languages that other people test to this list, so please refer back to it so that we don't check the same language more than we need to

edit2: remember, I only use English settings, so it wont effect me personally if ModMii's bulk game extractor doesn't work with other languages... so while I am asking for your help, I'm really asking you to help me help you! If no one takes the time to test other languages... then I wont be able to guarantee all other languages will allow you to use ModMii's sneek game bulk extractor. But since most people using ModMii have either english or french language settings... it probably wont affect a lot of people anyways (if anyone).

Thanks a lot for this! I didn't have time until tonight...

I did what you say, but unfortunately I have not "bytes free"written. but "octets libres". I don't really know until "where" it's in english when I change the langage. And the deliminator is "ÿ".
when I use french keyboard:CODEÂÂ6 R‚p(s)ÂÂ19ÿ819ÿ708ÿ416 octets libres
when I have my keyboard in english:CODE
6 R‚p(s)ÂÂ19ÿ819ÿ233ÿ280 octets libres

Thanks for your help so nicely proposed

Help much appreciated.

Tried all ideas with no luck, tried again today and all seemed to work like a dream. http://gbatemp.net/style_emoticons/default/yaywii.gif
My only guess at what was wrong were the servers being overly busy or down this weekend. http://gbatemp.net/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif

My only issue now is that I need a larger SD card as my measly 64mb isnt enough. http://gbatemp.net/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif

Thankyou all again for the help and support

Much love

First off, great utility, no doubt the best way to completely overhaul a Wii even if you are a noob
yaywii.gif

Don't know if this has been suggested before, but have you thought of adding a feature into ModMii that analyzes the current state of the Wii without relying on asking the user questions? User error can lead to the wrong options being chosen and create a nightmare of a scenario....

For example, I just came across a post where someone updated their Wii and was left with only Wanin's IOS250. This individual did not know that Wanin's IOS250 survived the update as it has it's rev number maxed out, nor did they know that they could use it to re-install other cIOS. Had this individual been able (under instruction/guidance) to generate a Syscheck report, then have ModMii parse it, see that cIOS250 survived, and have ModMii generate a guide that told them to use IOS250 to install the remaining WADs needed, well that would be awesome
smile.gif

Just the option to have ModMii compare IOS revisions from a SysCheck report and give options based on the analysis automatically will go a long way to lesson the burden of knowledge of the beginner user looking to update their Wii. I do see how this will not help a pre-softmodded Wii, as there would be no way to generate the report however.

Just a thought.

@flowlapache, I just sent you a beta version via PM, can you test it to see if the sneek game bulk extractor works with your french language settings now?

@PPSainity, I like the idea... but it is a lot of work... I will definitely keep it in mind, and when/if I find time it will be on my list of things to consider adding to ModMii! Is there a general preference as to what ios report ModMii should support? Dop-Mii's report or syscheck's report?

@nobb123 & meankeys, you're very welcome! I'm glad it worked for you!

Dear XFlak,

First of all thank you very much for the latest version 4.3.4 that I installed sucessfully into my Wii 4.2e.

However, I would like to know what is the best way to uninstall everything and have the Wii like new ?

I did not find any tutorial for that ?

Thanks in advance and sorry if I do no post in the right place.

Read this for my thoughts on "virginizing" (ie. making the Wii like new)
http://gbatemp.net/t207126-modmii-for-wind...t&p=3028841

but basically, all u can do is delete any unofficial channels, like the homebrew channel or any forwarder channels. Disable any priiloader system menu hacks u enabled (u could also uninstall priiloader too, but doing so is pointless as it will probably never be accessed by accident anyways). If u have any custom themes or darkcorp installed, uninstall them, and that's about it. You should still hold onto your nand backup just in case, because even if nintendo puts out a shitty update and they brick u (which has happened before), a nand backup can save you even if u don't have ANY softmods still in place (using the infectus brick fixing method).

Thank you for your quick reply, I read your thoughts and the reason why I would like to "virginizing" my Wii is that I have troubles with my sundriver:

http://gbatemp.net/t264037-sundriver-not-loading

In fact I started with ModMii 4.3.4 but then found out that a sundriver was existing, so I installed it but it doesn't work so I tought it may be due to the previous ModMii installation ?

PS: The ModMii doesn't affect the NAND ?

it would be awsome if modmii helped people to make wiis a virgin again (like jomanlo said) , and maybe help people do a nand format and a complete reinstall.

BTW! Thanks for making this software Xflak! it helped me a lot! great job!

I think SysChecks report seems to be the most used, but it isn't too different from that of Dop-Mii. I believe they even use the same code to generate the reports, at least they used to.

Personally, I like the report that Pimp-My-Wii v2.11 generates as it is the most complete and accurate in terms of detecting what hacks are applied to certain IOSes. It also is the only utility that I've seen that displays channels as well as IOSes in the report. I included a the Pimp-My-Wii report below for your perusal. Maybe it would be best to borrow the code from Pimp-My-Wii and bundle a specific tool with ModMii short of coding for all the different reports generated by different utilities, or efforts in standardizing such things amongst all homebrew.

Looking forward to whatever you come up with

4.3.5 Changelog
  • Further fixed bug in SNEEK Game Bulk Extractor only effecting
some users with non-English language settings causing ModMii to
ALWAYS tell you that you don`t have enough free space to continue.
  • Updated the USB Loader Forwarder Channel to v2, which offers much
    faster loading times (requires IOS58).
  • Other minor changes.

A question after using Modmii I no longer could boot backup discs from the disc channel is there any reason for this? Previously I used Darkcorp to allow me to boot it from the disc channel was there anything that might have changed to prevent backups from being shown on the disc channel?
