Tutorial Modify ANY Wii 4.3 & below

I have followed this guide to softmod my Wii, but I have a question I didn't see answered anywhere in the guide. If it is in there, then apologies for my terrible reading comprehension.

My question: Is there any way to install Bootmii as boot2 on a Wii that already has system menu 4.2 installed?
The Wii in question is has a serial number that starts with LU37, was automatically updated when I turned it on for the first time in 5+ months, and has since been softmodded following this guide.

I have tried searching this forum, but all I come up with are things that are not related, old threads, or this thread (and 300+ pages is a lot to go through).

Any help would be appreciated, be it an answer or a poke in the right direction. Thanks.

Depends on the wii. I picked up a launch wii updated to 4.2. BootMii installed to boot2 no problem.

Okay. I went through the softmod guide and started with the basics. I got the HBC to install and ran the nand backup. Then nothing else worked from that point. I tried installing a disc launcher and it wouldn't work.

Now here is my main problem. I accidentally deleted the HBC off the channel section in the Wii settings. Now I can't do anything. The HBC channel is gone and I want to get the Wii back to it's original state. Where do I go from here??

I really want to softmod this Wii. I am a noob when it comes to this, but am very smart with a PC. I bittorrent and install games on my PC without any instructions so I know I can do this. There's just something I'm missing.

I have a version 3.4 Wii

Help me please. I'm lost as to what to do

I want to update for Wii Shop Channel but I prefer to be remain with 3.2u. Should I use this: Wii System Channels Updater from: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiSCU

use dop-ios mod or wad manager to install ios61(with no patches) and the new shop channel v18 and you should be good to go

wiiscu 0.23 should also work (but as longtom said, install ios61(with no patches) and the shop channel)

also, don't use wiiscu 0.21 as it has some brick potential

edit: personally I prefer the wad manager method... i like doing everything offline, its faster that way

With no patch ? I have the latest version of dop ios but no patch ? Will it tell me the quote "ios61 with no patch or with patch" without a quote of course ?

it should tell u if it has any patches if u go into sign check (inside dop-ios mod i believe)

but it doesn't hurt to reinstall it either way

Unfortunately.. I came back to Wii menu again.. I have is:

dop-ios mod

IOS61

Currently installed: v5405 unpatch

and successfully then go to Wii Shop Channel and it said I need to update and I click Wii Menu to come back. Whats wrong ?

u can also use wiiscu

u can also use wad manager (if u have the wiishop wad for ur region, which u get get use nus auto downloader or the original nusd)

prolly other ways too, but that should be enough, pick the 1 that sounds the easiest to u

Hi after following the guide to the letter,i seem to be having probs with bootmii,after installing hbc and dvdx i have tried to install bootmii as boot 2 and after that failed as an ios,but when i reset my wii all i get is a black screen,same when i chose to insatall as ios i tried to launch from hbc but again ...black screen,i have tried using another sd card(even though i know that 1 works fine on other wii's)have tried formatting sd card and starting over ,i just keep getting the same result, btw when i tried installing it as boot 2 i did get the success message after it installed,but it just does doesnt want to boot into bootmii,i aint going any further without nand backup either lol,any help would be appreciated thanks..oops forgot to say i'm on 3.4e

None of your SD cards are compatible with BootMii.

i have used the very same card to install bootmi etc onto a few other wii's,with no problems.....why now

,i have two sd cards which i know both work,and neither of them seem to be working,i have tried to clean out the sd slot as best i can as well,but other stuff is working fine from the card too on the same wii

Yes, Just use the Channels section of DOP-IOS MOD
