Hacking Hardware Switch Lite LCD Pinout (External Video-Out)

Hello! I'm researching the switch lite's LCD panel. At this moment my goal is to connect it to a generic MIPI -> HDMI board, so now I'm stuck because I need to solder an adapter because the connector is proprietary and there is very little info about it. Does anybody know anything, or maybe can help me with reverse engineering?

What I found:
  • It uses a proprietary 41-pin FPC (pic)
  • It is a 4-Lane MIPI
  • The full list of boards (according to hekate sources) is:

  • It outputs a portrait signal
  • Video initialization code does not seem to contain any lite-specific code
  • this one seems to be similar but I couldn't find any datasheets
  • Youtuber taki udon has designed a similar kit but it is perma sold-out and he doesn't seem to be preparing for a restock

MIPI to HDMI boards are available but I don't know if they would work with the Lite out of the box

Another approach to look into would be to retrofit the PI3USB chip that generates the DP over USB signal and then use a USB -> HDMI adapter. Not sure if the firmware would support it.
I recall seeing such a discussion here on the forum.

If all fails, just go for SysDVR as a software solution to stream the video.

It seems unlikely that they used a modified version of MIPI. It's rather unpractical because provides no benefits whatsoever. Proprietary connectors on the other hand are a commonplace because they are not standardized

Retrofitting pi3usb seems way harder and requires much more elaborate modifications than making a middleman board. Aside from that, it would require soldering (Even though support for a proper docked mode would require it too, but to a lesser degree I guess)

I don't consider SysDVR because I see it as a more of a RE project, at the end of the day I could use yuzu if I needed switch games on a big screen

I guess it should be possible to analyze it with a multimeter. Using some knowledge about the protocol you should be able to figure out the pin function knowing its voltage and when it's active.
