Is it safe/recommended installing cios 222-223 mod?

I already finished the guide, works great. Didn't installed Priiloader though, as i'm afraid it will leave me with a BSOD at start, as explained here. Is there a way to load Priiloader in a dol, maybe, for testing?
It is both safe and recommend to install 222 and 223. It's also necessary if you use FAT32 to store Wii backups. Also, I've installed Priiloader r41 on 4 different Wii consoles and never got that.

I need to completely un-mod my wii I am on 4.1E and followed this guide. One complication, i suspect i have a semi-brick because when i go on the settings menu it freezes. What shall I do?

Do you mean by that he should install the normal IOS222/223
or the modded ones (like he linked to)

Not that its actually important to me

Oh right. Forgot he had posted a link. Just stick to the one in this guide. Can't go wrong with that. Congrats on your 4000th post!

i recommend neither as u dont need cioscorp if u r using usb backup loaders... but if u must play backup disks via the disk channel, I would recommend v3.6 (v3.6 reportedly does not break the hackmii installer support as previous versions of cioscorp does)

does 3.6 work for multiple regions of backup disks, since i have a few non-ntsc games, like PAL and NTSCJ, to say AND
does it fully support rawkSD, making customs work using a backup copy of RB2?

Help!

I'm on the updating section of the tut and when I launch WAD Manager 1.5 there is no IOS36 option (but there is both IOS35 and IOS37, strangely).

I can't understand why... any suggestions? :S

Thanks.

what firmware are you on and was the wii previously hacked??

tbr?

...

I downloaded the update.zip, extracted the contents to my formatted SD card, ran Hackmii & install everything (even though I already have it all installed), went to HBC, launched WAD Manager, and couldn't find IOS36...

EDIT:
Only proper hacks I've done that I can remember are installing cIOS??rev15 (I think it's 28) by Waninkoko for USB Loader GX and Starfall.

QUOTE(OhYa @ Dec 18 2009, 03:32 PM)
I am using the files from modify.zip on 2 systems both on 4.2u
Bootmii is boot2, not an IOS
I have followd the guid to the letter, and if I dont install priiloader everything works fine, but I want the system updates disabled so I dont have an update brick me.

I have had the installation of the Priiloader v0.1(rev15) crash during install and wipe out the system menu...
I have formated my SD card and re-extracted modify.zip to the root
So when I install priiloader I get Exception DSI occured
after that I cant get to the systemmenu anymore, only preloader

I have succesfully installed this priiloader on two other 4.2u Wiis a couple weeks ago, so is there a new update to 4.2u thats causing this problem? do I need a new version of priiloader?

So 2 things,
first, is there a way to repair the system menu or am I stuck restoring the NAND?

second, whats my problem, why does priiloader keep crashing?
QUOTEQUOTE: xzxero: i dont know what causes the priloader problem, but a simple re install should fix the problem.
First, xzxero Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for your time and putting together this guide and then taking even more time to respond to people!
Very cool, there are not many people around like you!

Ok, I have a LU6 now & I cant load bootmii as a boot2, so im kinda afraid with this one...
does it still work to restore the nand when bootmii is only a IOS?

Second, with only Preloader, as in No Systemenu, how do you get the system menu back?

I have successfully modded my friends wii for christmas to 4.2 (and Wani's rev14) using this guide, so thanks for that

I am thinking of going from 4.2e > 4.1e

Reading this section from the guide:

"4.2 to 4.1
Optional; For those looking on how to get back to 4.1 for whatever reason, mainly region free hacks, look here."

When it says region free hacks is it refererring to wii's disc channel loading only using cioscorp? (as I am not using cioscorp and will use neogamma instead!).

If the wii is now on 4.2e with (wani's Rev14 and hiberns 222) and using neogamma (latest) can i still play NTSC-Usa games through discs without downgrading to 4.1?

Thanks and merry christmas!
