Hey @lordelan , your idea is live: the Jellyfin client is in the catalogue and attached to your request on the ideas board.

Wanted to thank you properly, because this one made the platform better beyond the app itself. Getting it working meant finishing real runtime features, the video element, seeking, local network access, and those now exist for every future app because you asked for this one!

What shipped: Auto quality by default (smooth 720p60 on the Switch, even from heavier sources), forced quality from 480p30 up to 1080p or source, audio and subtitle track selection, chapters, aspect ratio, crop and zoom, 10 second skips, and a stats overlay on the video that shows exactly what the stream is doing. The same app also runs on PC and mobile, so your library follows you around.

Now the favor: point it at your own server and try to break it. Your library has codecs, containers and subtitle formats mine does not, and that is exactly what finds the real issues. Post whatever misbehaves here or on the idea and it goes straight on the fix list.

Edit: "One thing I forgot: the client needs Brewser v0.1.120 or newer. Open Brewser and hit Check for updates, or tap the update toast when it pops up, then run the app."

What Wii U would have been if it was any less obscure. They were really pushing for HTML5 games and utilities back then, but very few bothered due to the circumstances. Pretty cool!

It's also a (barely) working browser roughly on par with the bundled WebKit browser that refuses to work if a system update is available, so that's also great to see. Just wish I could disable the music, pressing anywhere on the address bar just opens a text editor and none of the buttons do anything,

Thanks, that Wii U comparison is pretty much the idea: a proper place for HTML5 apps and tools on the console.

You can turn the music off in Settings (the gear icon in the toolbar). If the gear doesn't respond for you, you can also edit sdmc:/switch/brewser/configs/config.json and set "shellMusic" to false.

Tapping the address bar should open Brewser's own keyboard, with an input box for typing the URL. I haven't seen a text editor show up there before, so a screenshot would really help me track that down.

Which buttons weren't working for you? Brewser's own ones (back, reload, etc.) or buttons on websites you visited? Also, which Atmosphère version are you on, and were you playing docked or handheld? That will help narrow down whether it's an input issue.

FYI, open web browsing is there but untested and not really the focus. The main thing is the app catalogue, where everything is tested on hardware. If you haven't tried those yet, give a few a go and let me know how they run.
