im still online on my switch 2 A (the one i used to update mig games), the Switch 2 B will be forever offline (this will be banned when go online i know that...) cheers

So you did exactly what I did, which is is to acquire "original" dumps and get them to show up on the home screen, then to go online and update each one and then repeat from time to time to keep "original" dumps updated... ?

Im not banned yet.... still using 2 switch 2.

Switch 2 A --> mig switch games loaded and updated (not launched).
Switch 2 B --> mig switch games loaded updated via local update and always offline.

Switch 2 A formated after used for update games and then used that console for playing my online original games (dk bananza, mk world etc) not banned yet. Using this method since switch 2 launch date.

So you've never played the games on "Switch A" you only copy them to "Switch B" and then play offline????

First, on Switch 2 #1, it updates public dumps online but doesn't run them.
Next, it transfers updates from Switch 2 #1 to Switch 2 #2.
After that, it plays publicly updated dumps offline on Switch 2 #2, and then resets Switch 2 #1 to factory settings so it can play personal dumps (made from its own cartridges) online.

So I was doing a similar thing with my Switch 2

When I wanted to play Switch 1 game backups on my Switch 2, I would go offline, insert the mig, so it loaded, then take it out, go online and update it, go offline and play with mig.

The switch has was NEVER been banned until I used a duplicate certificate (accidently) and I was running firmware 21.0.0.

Aside from this, I have never had any issues up until that point since Switch 2 launch.

This means...

Genuine cart dumps are not being banned or flagged for banning - and publicly dumped certificates are not being banned (this may happen going forwards and can easily be done).

Personally, I don't think Nintendo will win this cat and mouse fight, as the Lotus 3 key must be inside the Mig, it's game over for switch 1 games.

Quick question and I never thought I would be this late asking.

If I use MIG on my Day1 Switch 2 and get banned, will I ever be able to update the firmware and continue to play my MIG cart games on it again?

You can still update the firmware while banned... is the games that are not allowed to be updated/downloaded with a ban (or using nintendo online services). Keep in mind that you might need some switch 1 games updated in order to play on a switch 2 (mandatory update).

Exactly this.

Well I kept trying to report it but their form is broken af all week ... so gotta wait till they resurface or something.
Also found their contact email address and sent them an email to let them know of the issue and the web problem with the contact page.
They answer to the mail saying they will fix the contact page and that they are already checking the metroid issue :)

Tried a different game released on the same day (Dec. 4th) : Octopath Traveller 0. It works fine in migswitch.

New firmware 1.2.3 for MIG is out!
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond should now work.

Yep, noticed it... but just don't get your hopes too high: there is a big difference between the black and red cartridges: capacity. While the black ones only have up to 32GB the red ones have 64GB space, so if it's a cartridge using more than 32GB, it might also depend on how the cartridge works if that's an issue or not.

although it's from the official website, nowadays with how things are, I'm suspicious of everything !! before updating my *ns2 / cartridge, is the new firmware 1.2.3 trustworthy ?? has anyone already updated their cartridge with the new firmware and everything is okay ?? because at this moment (December 11, 2025 - 3:43 PM local time) the new firmware doesn't appear in https://gbatemp.net/download/mig-switch-firmware-for-cart-and-dumper.38508/updates

Can anyone confirm MIG is safe to use on Switch 2 firmware Ver. 21.1.0 (released 8th December).

I am playing legitimate backups (original personal dumps) on Switch 2.

Only Nintendo can confirm this. No one else can give you any guarantees.
Currently, playing your personal dumps is safe.
Playing public dumps (even full dumps) always carries a risk of getting banned.

Using Mig is an eternal lottery, so this reality must be understood and accepted.
