Hello
First, i'm an old user of this kind of tools
UBCD, UBCD4Win (very good in his time) , Sardu 2 (v2 : very good but v3 : doesn't really work for me ),
and now MediCat (i like it, so Jayro : thank you !)

I do not know if that was already discussed, but just in case ...
A tiny contribution for the people who don't have a qwerty keyboard (i'm a french guy by the way) .

Having a another preloaded keyboard than the qwerty one (for your MediCat WinPE10) :

https : // www . tutos - informatique . com / windows-pe-clavier-azerty /
(remove all spaces in this pseudo-link , this forum doesn't like the real link)
the page is in french, but a google translate and the screenshots must be helpfull .

briefly, with NLITE mount the boot.wim (on my usb key -> /sources/boot.wim),
and edit the hives "Machine - System" & "User - Default" & "User - System" ,
on each : find the key /Keyboard Layout/Preloaded/
and for the value name "1" = "00000409", change the data with "0000040C" : for a french azerty keyboard,
or change the data with ->

00000402 = "Bulgarian"
0000041a = "Croatian"
00000405 = "Czech"
00000406 = "Danish"
00000813 = "Dutch (Belgian)"
00000413 = "Dutch (Standard)"
00000409 = "English (American)"
00000c09 = "English (Australian)"
00000809 = "English (British)"
00001009 = "English (Canadian)"
00001809 = "English (Irish)"
00001409 = "English (New Zealand)"
0000040b = "Finnish"
0000080c = "French (Belgian)"
00000c0c = "French (Canadian)"
0000040c = "French (Standard)"
0000100c = "French (Swiss)"
00000c07 = "German (Austrian)"
00000407 = "German (Standard)"
00000807 = "German (Swiss)"
00000408 = "Greek"
0000040e = "Hungarian"
0000040f = "Icelandic"
00000410 = "Italian (Standard)"
00000810 = "Italian (Swiss)"
00000414 = "Norwegian (Bokmal)"
00000814 = "Norwegian (Nynorsk)"
00000415 = "Polish"
00000416 = "Portuguese (Brazil)"
00000816 = "Portuguese (Portugal)"
00000418 = "Romanian"
00000419 = "Russian"
0000041b = "Slovak"
00000424 = "Slovenian"
0000080a = "Spanish (Mexican)"
00000c0a = "Spanish (Modern Sort)"
0000040a = "Spanish (Traditional Sort)"
0000041d = "Swedish"
0000041f = "Turkish"

AND you can have multiple keyboard layout ->
in the previously keys :

ADD others REG_SZ strings
-> value name "2" with data = "00000409"
-> value name "3" with data = "00000xyz"
etc...
Apply the changes, the boot.wim will be reconstructed.

SO you can switch in your Mini10 all your preloaded keyboards with "ALT"+"SHIFT" .

et voila , have a nice day .

How can i help you with some more info ?

Thanks

edit: Just for info, I write this iso on DVD, not on usbkey.

I have installed Medicat 17.10.1, and when using Rufus 2.18 to make a bootable USB stick everything works, except MiniWin10; that gives me a GRUB command prompt. Using YUMI in 'Single PE' mode gives me the opposite: it boots directly into MiniWin10, so I can't get to the rest.

Any idea how to fix this?

I haven't tried YUMI but I have the same problem with Rufus. On the previous MediCat release I could boot to Mini Windows 10 with no problem but almost nothing else (most other things would drop me to a grub prompt).

Same here.. I just dl'd it last night. The Windows setup and PE images work for me but the bootable Malwarebytes does not. I was testing on a Virtualbox Win10 image but will be trying it with Yumi 2.0.5.1 with the "Single Windows PE build" option in a bit. I will report back..

can you please tell me the differences between medicat USB and mini windows 10 x64 ?

Is the only difference the absence of linux environment in mini windows 10 or are there other differences too?

Also, does medicat usb also support older 32-bit PCs ?

MediCat USB is for modern computers, which are 64-bit. The full DVD ISO comes with a bunch of bootable tools AND Mini Windows 10.

I just like to offer Mini Windows 10 by itself, in case that's all people need. Not everyone would want or need the entire suite, but some would rather have it all. So I offer both.

A few questions are in my mind right now:

- Is Telemetry and other Microsoft "spying" junk is deleted ?
- Is Cortana available in your builds ?
- Size of your ISO ? (for example does it fit on a 1Gb pendrive ?)

@Jayro :
The boot.wim in the Passcape.iso seems to be corrupted
(i tried the iso outside the Medicat distrib, it does'nt boot, and i'm not enabled to read the boot.wim with anything)
There is a new (working) Passcape's iso on their site, just in case.

edit:
The boot.wim in UUkeys.iso contains some ntdll.dll with crc error
(this UUkeys.iso does bsod)
i rebuild one with a fresh boot.wim + added UUkeys prog. => that's better .

Some linux tools seems to not working with very new hardwares, but maybe it's just the way they are launched with grub ?
if i got some time, i'll do some tests ...
edit:
nope, some kernel don't boot, it does'nt matter, the others tools and the WinPE10 make my happiness :D

Pardon me i still don't get it. A bit confused.

What is the difference between windows 10 x64 and windows 10 x64 naked version?
It is the portable tools that come along with windows 10 right?
I'm just not clear about that.

Medicat USB comes with windows 10 + Linux environment + portable tools
Medicat USB naked comes with just windows 10 and Linux with no portable tools
windows 10 version comes with the mini windows 10 and the portable tools
windows 10 naked comes just with windows 10 and nothing else.

Am I right?

Yes, you are correct. The NAKED builds are for people who want to make their own PortableApps collection, instead of using the tools I provide in the FULL builds.

Hello I was wondering if I could get some help reinstalling grub2 (I think that what you are using) as default boot. I had my usb in a computer while I did a bcdboot command and some reason it broke the grub it goes right to the windows 10pe now after i restored the backup bcd in the boot directory. Thanks I am just used to using grub4dos.

i would just reimage my flash drive but I added a ton of stuff to the grub side like paragon to replace ghost and a few other boot disc I paid for.

Thanks so much for your time :)

Can you boot the SuperGrubDisk2 from the Harddisk Tools menu? That should allow you to reinstall grub2.
it goes right to the windows 10pe image if booting legacy or uefi... is there an easy way or app to put grub back into the mix I dont know how it worked on that part. I do know Linux decently but im out of practice really.

Setting the root explicity fixed it for me.

Change the 'APPEND --config-file="chainloader /bootmgr"' in the Mini Windows 10 entry in the main_menu.cfg in the root of the drive to 'APPEND --config-file="root (hd0,0) ; chainloader /bootmgr"'

Thank you for this, I'll do some testing and see if it is consistent enough to add to the ISO. You'll also be credited in the changelog if your fix makes it into v17.10.02

Using a fixed root(hd0,0) will not work for every case!

Try to add: find --set-root /Win10PE.cd instead

APPEND --config-file="find --set-root /Win10PE.cd; chainloader /bootmgr"

This way grub will search for the file Win10PE.cd on the root of the USB flash drive and set the root() accordingly
