How to change textures for characters? When I use the method from the video, all get a little bit transparent and in shy guys case half of his mask is wrong

@Pablomf6 , I have a question, possibly you can at least point some tips... I was trying to replace Rainbow Road 7's music with the Rainbow Road Medley from Smash Bros 3DS.

I started the conversion from a MP3 file, then lowered the sample rate to 32000Hz, set the loop points through Yata+ and generate the two bcstm files (one for the main 2 segments, and a more faster, with high tempo, to the final part). Replaced both inside the decompressed romfs with the appropriated filenames, and repacked the romfs.

When I started playing, after three or four seconds, the music disappeared, and a few seconds later the game froze, forcing me to power down the 3DS.

What I need to do for replacing the music files without this crash error? Thanks in advance for any answers.

There's a tool called BRSTM to BCSTM, which converts the wiis sound files to the BCSTM files compatible with the 3DS. That could be useful for some people here. ;)

In the end, I made a change: replaced the track files for the SNES Rainbow Road instead of MK7 Rainbow Road, and my two edited bcstm files worked without problems (but I should have raised the volume a little more...).
Thanks for your tips, I'll check brawlcustommusic later to see if I can change other tracks :)

Fantastic one, wow! Can't wait to rebuild my romfs too :D

@Pablomf6 - about this specific track, isn't possible to play online with random people, since the game crashes (although is possible in other tracks).

But I wonder: playing online only with people that have the CTGP-7 tracks too (let's say, in a private community just for CTGP-7 players), also crashes the game?

is there a place where custom tracks are posted besides the official ctgp-7? I've seen sky garden but never got to play it.

You can download GBA Sky Garden here, but:

1) It's incomplete at the moment, since lacks item boxes
2) It replaces SNES Mario Circuit 2 - and this one is replaced already by SNES Mario Circuit 1 on CTGP-7. Which means, you have to choose which track you want.

For some ubknown reaon, N64 frappe snowland is the only working online. Stewie1.0 has a video proving it on his channel.

Obviously it has something to do with loading model data, and not texture data. Also, was playing ds download play and i de-synched. That might have something to do it. That or my hans overclock.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
