Make it so that posts from groups I'm not a member of don't get/appear in my list of new posts.

deliberate design choice
Each word individually and all three together are very questionable considering where we are. More like another excuse for staff's epic handlessness. Very local. But anyway.
At least make an option to turn it off. The ability to unsubscribe from something that I absolutely do not need and no less absolutely not interested in.
But this time a full-fledged one, for the whole site, in its entirety and everywhere on it.
Not a pathetic parody like this one: https://gbatemp.net/account/new-content, which works somewhere in some rare select parts that no one uses.
And make it convenient, without the idiotic postscript "Note: selecting a forum will not ignore its subforums!". No one is going to mark 100500 random groups and catch new ones as they appear.

AFAIK this has been brought up before, and is a deliberate design choice, so that it's easier for people to discover groups.
Which is fair, but also, a lot of the groups made are foreign language groups, test groups and joke groups that are no use to most people, so we shouldn't be forced to have them clutter up the recent posts.

Why not use it as a whitelist instead of a blacklist then, and just select all the non-groups?

I do agree there could be simpler toggles for these things, but there is a fairly simple solution there that probably takes five minutes to setup once.

What if to read and comprehend what is written in full, rather than trying to find only what fits staff's motto "why do something if you can do nothing at all"?

Go ahead, mark the "Nintendo Switch" subforum there as "exclude" and check out https://gbatemp.net/whats-new/posts/. Be sure to report back with your results.

Yeah what I'm saying is change it from "Exclude" to "Include". From there click on the top sub-forum (Introductions), then, holding Shift, click on the final sub-forum before the groups start (EoF). When I first replied I assumed you would have to select the sub-forums individually, but this is relatively fast.

It appears to work without any issues, so you have a fairly easy solution there. I'm just trying to offer support here, I'm not a person who has any power to make changes to the site. It appears that the behaviour you're wanting really isn't a challenge to get though.

Edit: I do see what you mean about the text. I assume that's leftover from before subforums got merged into one, so it could do with going. Everything else seems fine though?

Edit 2: I'm following now, it only affects the front page box. That does actually seem like a bug. I know it did work on the What's New page in the past, so raising that might actually get some attention on the issue. I would say you could probably go about it in a clearer and more polite way, but hey ho.

Edit 3: I am once again returning with more information. Seems it impacts the https://gbatemp.net/new/ page, and not the newer https://gbatemp.net/whats-new/ page. As not a person who can make changes, I have no idea how easy or difficult it would be to make these changes hit the whats-new page, but you could use the new page and the home box to tide you over.
