Hacking Losing game saves

I've been playing Mario Golf US edition, made it pretty far into the game, and then when I reload the game, my save isn't found, and I'm starting from scratch. The only available save online is for the Europe version, so I'm basically screwed. I checked my mem stick and I can still see the game save file, so I don't know why I can't get my former save to load. I have the same exact issue with my Mario and Luigi game. Is there something I'm doing wrong so that the game won't read my save file?

If ever your save fails to load (I.e you start the game and it's saying New game or whatever) immediately hold down the power button until the console is shut down.....don't exit the game or select power off, just force the console off, this way if the game just didn't load the save due to a glitch or something it will not overwrite your old save with the New blank save
