TL;DR
Console 1 is on 6.2 FW, Console 2 is on 4.1 FW. Want to transfer saves from Console 1 to 2 and reset 1 so no trace of homebrew stays on it. SX OS used only, in "Safe Mode". Not banned ATM.

Hi all,

I initially purchased my switch to access homebrew, emulators and of course, piracy. I bought several games for it already and definitely enjoying the free to play multiplayer games. They pretty much satisfy my MP itch, so I ended up buying another Switch just for homebrew and piracy (this one brand new at 4.1 FW).

However, my big issue is that some games that I've pirated (SX OS, xci), I've put a lot of time into the saves. Nintendo's supported save transfer involves fully updated and internet connected consoles, so that's out of the question.

So my questions boil down to:

1. Is this even feasible/doable? Does such an application exist in homebrew?
2. If the above is true, then would it work across different FW versions?
3. If both the above are true, could I do the transfer from the 6.2 offline, and be able to reset it so no telemetry data has a chance to get to Nintendo after running such homebrew, and ideally afterwards do a full reset back to stock so I can continue accessing online content/stay legit with that console?

You should be able to use Checkpoint to transfer your saves.

Thanks, I'll look into it. How about my third question:

"could I do the transfer from the 6.2 offline, and be able to reset it so no telemetry data has a chance to get to Nintendo after running such homebrew, and ideally afterwards do a full reset back to stock so I can continue accessing online content/stay legit with that console?"

I don't want explicit steps, I can find out the info myself. However I would appreciate some guidance as far as whether a NAND backup is needed, or if even a full reset after doing the transfer while offline would suffice to clear out any telemetry logs about Checkpoint running on the 6.2 console.

Using something like Atmosphere for Checkpoint alone on your 4.1.0 console shouldn't leave any traces, but there's no way to wipe or restore the 4.1.0 console to before you transferred the save files without also removing those save files, if that's what you're asking.

I'm actually asking about the 6.2 console - I'll need to run Checkpoint on it as well, so since that's the console that I want to keep as legit, online accessible, does a reset after running homebrew on it while offline clear out any traces of running homebrew?

I am not 100% sure and I imagine someone more knowledgeable will chime in, but if I was going to try this, I would delete internet settings on console 1, back a full NAND (and boot1/2) backup, load atmosphere on 6.2. backup your saves with checkpoint, then full NAND restore on console 1 (NAND+Boot1/0).
On Console two load up and restore the saves with checkpoint. The only issue I could think of is if you try load a save from a game with a higher patch level or DLC, like if you have the master cycle in Zelda and you don't (or can't) patch up the game to the same level

Possibly, I use Checkpoint only offline and haven't get a ban.

Delete WiFi setting to make safe if not turn airplane mode off by accident.

I do get couple of error codes and they are normal Nintendo related due unable to connect to internet with airplane mode enabled.
