Let's take a pole and end the decision on how to access the source menu. Your choices are:

1. 'A' on mode/view button icon. I will have to add a option to wiiflow.ini that you will have to set to yes because it will default to no. just like the d-pad option. of course if you set it to yes you will no longer be able to change view's the old/current way. but you will still be able to use the d-pad shortcuts.

2. 'B' on mode/view button icon. Same as #1 except you will no longer be able to switch from real nand to emu nand and back.

3. just pressing 'B' on wiimote. This might be a little tricky to code and might not be possible since the 'B' button is used for so many shortcuts already. you would definitely have to make sure you are not pointing at any buttons. Also I can see people trying to press 'B' on the star but missing and accidentally getting the source menu.

4. leave it where it is as 'B' on home/exit button icon.

I like #2 since I don't ever have any need to switch to real nand. I'll give you guys till Friday to announce your choice. Of course if Fix94 and Overjoy have the final decision. If they want to leave it at #4 then that's where it stays.

I'd say that of those options #2 sounds best.

There are problems I see with each of them, though.

#1 Would actually somewhat make more sense but the constantly changing icon on that button would be meaningless if not confusing. It would not longer represent which mode you are going to. You could always just leave it at the channels icon
btnchannels.png
which would most visually represent the source menu. That would be the simplest. The other option would be to have it show, instead, the mode that you're CURRENTLY on. If it's gonna be an option just in the wiiflow.ini file, though, I'd go with the one that's easier to code which would be just leaving it at the channel icon.

#2 I might have chosen this one only because I was already used to pressing (+) on this button so it's more the force of habit. For a user that didn't already have the habit, it would be just as easy as the way it is now so I guess it really doesn't make much difference. I would miss the ability to change between emu NAND and real NAND a bit but I, at least, already have a button for it set up in my source menu. To eliminate that problem you could always also move the emu/real NAND switch to pressing the B button on the home button. It would be more just switching the B button function for the two buttons.

#3 I definitely see [member='fledge68']'s point on this one. The only other thing it would conflict with, though, would be with WiiMote gestures but I don't use them myself and since it's ALSO an INI option, there should be no real conflict there. Difficult to code, perhaps, but preferably reacting in the moment of releasing the B button only if not on any buttons and it's not in any menu and no game is selected (lots of cases to code). As it is, though, hitting B and not pointing at anything doesn't really do anything so other than a being a tough decision for those who are ALSO wanting WiiMote gestures turned on, no functionality will really be lost. To make accidentally hitting B in the wrong place and getting to the source menu less of a tragedy, once in the source menu, being able to just quickly hit B again and pop back out of the source menu would be another good thing to add. (heck, it would be a good thing even if #3 wasn't chosen. I'm actually not even sure that it isn't already implemented. I'll have to check when I get home.) The other changes almost seem too subtle for an INI option.

#4 like I said, for me this is basically the same as option #2 as long as you also move the emu/real NAND switch to the home button icon. It might make a little more intuitive SENSE to switch the functions, though, so I think I still lean more toward #2 of those two but #4 is obviously the easiest one to code. :P

It would be nice if ALL these could have their own INI option but I know that's a lot of work.
After writing all that out, I think I'm gonna have to change my vote to #3.
It would still make sense to me, though to switch the B button functionality of the home icon button and the mode button for everyone else (a varied version of #2)

@Maxternal you have some really good points there and you're making me consider change my vote over on the main WiiFlow thread.

Hmm I'll have to consider this more and post my edited vote here later. My final vote to come soon lol.

I vote for method #3 and if not then hopfully it will fall on method #2.

I think this conversation is going on in a couple of places - so everyone's "singing from the same hymnsheet" can I suggest voters add their comments on the wiiflow main page and formalise their vote with the poll? http://gbatemp.net/t...ons-in-wiiflow/
Thanks.

Agreed, I didn't want to post in 2 places over the same thing :), I believe the thread has served it's first purpose and am happy to see that the way the Source Menu is accessed is now open for discussion and being voted on.

Your original idea with sourceflow is still preferred and when things have been decided on and implemented, I hope it will still be considered. If not I'm this is still a good place to throw ideas around for alternate ways of getting around WiiFlow

I wanted to comment on some of the ace ideas showing up round these parts, but I got caught up in polls and shenanigans and having a life. i'm knackerd and it's bed for me.
Would somebody from a more appropriate time zone like to comment?

Lol - not over imbued with responses there!
...
ONE BIG POST WITH 10 DRAFT SUBMISSIONS
...
EDIT: It was just too difficult to read, so I've chunked it down. Hopefully users can comment on individual 1st draft submissions more easily too.
Hope a bunch of new individual posts won't irritate!

No need to break it down any further pimpin' it's perfect with the synopsis. I haven't had time to fully post my input yet but I assure u be patient and I'll throw in and contribute my 2 cents for whatever it's worth :P hehe cus I do think there are some great necessary things there IMHO and there are some mental blah don't give a f**k one there's too lol ;)

This is the stuff great discussions, debates and opinions are all about.

lol really?
if you want a simple wiiflow why not just use WiiFlow 1.0 or 1.1 / or another rev that suit you well ?
i really think this thread is ridiculous

While your input is valued as is anyones positive or negative , i see you have made 4 posts in total here on gbatemp and reading through them , they all simple atempt to put people down for trying to support the community as a whole ... i suggest that if youve got nothing to say , dont say it .

ohh i only made 4 posts (GBA FAIL)
i suggest that you shut up btw

the quantity of your posts wasnt in question just the overall content , i guess the last post you made makes it 1 more flame baiting post... the improvements suggested by many here is constructive , some ideas are good some are indifferent , all are positive , you may take away some impetus from that .. good luck on future posts. :)
