Well, it depends on which place in the story each case would get : Usually, the first case is only one trial sequence, with two or three testimonies, which is what I am shooting for, no investigation at all... And it should be finished in less than two hours. Already got the motive for the guilty person, too, but a good night's sleep will help me find the final piece of evidence I need to plant to make her irrevokably guilty

I think your scenario would shine if it was played over three days, really. The two clients could try and put the blame on each other before Phoenix mends their broken hearts and reunites them in their ordeal! The mother, who could be withholding information to protect her last son until she is forced to testify against him, slowly realizing the same thing Phoenix guessed! Also, the first case never has an investigation part, and it's more work than just one trial, so why not go all the way? (bonus, you'd get to use Edgeworth or Godot or Franziska instead of Payne

I like the idea about a family's inner conflicts. It needs to get a little more complicated, though. Not enough evidence, as Edgeworth would say.
