Hello guys,

I'll buy a Wii tomorrow, the black wii with the mario kart bundle.

So, as i read it'll probably come with the 4.2 and there is a way to hack it.

But now that letterbomb is out and it looks easier to hack i have a question.

Should i upgrade it to 4.3 if it comes with 4.2 for easier hacking or i stay with 4.2 and do the older process?

now that letterbomb is out, can't really thing of a reason that you would HAVE to remain on 4.2. it's ultimately up to you though...can be modded either way.

If it is a new Wii, it will likely come with 4.3, not 4.2. 4.3 came out on June 21, 2010, so pretty much any Wii since then has 4.3. You can still hack it using LetterBomb. In fact, I'm pretty sure LetterBomb only works on 4.3; you would have to use bannerbomb on 4.2.

Edit: If your Wii is on 4.2, there is no reason to update to 4.3. System Menu 4.1 was the last system menu to come out that actually did anything other than homebrew prevention. I recommend you use ModMii to install the latest IOS files if you are on 4.2.

Dude, just update.

You won't have to muck around to get the Shop Channel working, and there's not really a drawback to being on 4.3.1.
ModMii easily installs the latest IOS files and Wii Shop Channel. No mucking required.

bannerbomb is easier to use anyways since you don't have to dick around with any webpage stuff or go find out your mac address. You just throw it on your sd card and click 2 buttons.

Humm, good to know.

Then i'll have to use letterbomb.

This shouldn't be a problem =].

Thanks Disasterous for the info.

I was looking for some bootmi tutorials, can i use the same sd card for everything? For installing boot mi ( should i install it on boot2 or ios? ) and to backup my nand?

Because, as i saw it formats the SD card before backuping the nand.

You can only install bootmii to boot2 if you have an older wii, all the newer ones have been revised to prevent it. You can use the same SD card for everything. When you backup your nand it just saves it to the root of your SD card as nand.bin and keys.bin. The process doesn't format your SD card.
