Japanese retailer seems sure of 3DS release date

I can't see the possibility of Nintendo passing up on the holiday market. From what the demo units show, the 3DS is already finished. And if we look back at the DS Phat launch, we see that Nintendo announced the release date of the Phat in September of '05 and released it that November. The only Nintendo consoles that haven't been released in that time frame (withing the past 10 years) are the remakes of the DS: the DS Lite and DSi. Those consoles arrived both in the spring and the summer.

Some more examples of the pre-holiday/holiday launches for North America are:

• N64: September 1996
• Nintendo GameCube: November 18, 2001
• Wii: November 19, 2006

Now, that you post that, it seems REALLY unlikely for Nintendo to release after the holiday season.

Also, how can a shop in japan get away with selling flashcarts like that? Hasn't Japan actually cracked down on them harder than pretty much everywhere else?

That law is such a joke - I go to akihabara about once a month and outlawing them has done nothing. They need to worry more about the guys with the card-tables selling bootleg PC software at retail prices. I saw a guy selling DVDs full of old games (like a DVD full of NES/SNES/Mega Drive/PC Engine games) for more than $100 USD each.

Why does everyone automatically say BS? Its very possible that it could come out here in the US in time for Christmas and release in Japan on 3/22. Do they even celebrate Christmas in Japan?

not only do you think it will be released in america before in the company's home country but you don't even know if they observe christmas in japan?

Several hardware releases hit America before Japan, you know?

Even Super Potato sells multi-carts.
