My Wii is old. I've had it since the day the system was released. I've also used it to death. Just recently, it's started to freeze upon booting every now and then, and it also freezes in games that it never used to have trouble with. Yes it's modded, but I haven't done anything to it to cause this problem. I can still run homebrew on it and all that jazz but it still malfunctions. I bought a used Wii to replace it and while I know I can use homebrew to copy gamesaves for games that use Wifi, I don't know if there's a way to copy my game licenses for all my VC and WiiWare games (I have a TON and would be devastated if I lost them all). Is there a way I can get access to my VC games without having to install WADs of them?

You can use the Nintendo Backup Disc (pink fish disc) to transfer your purchased wiiware/vc titles to a new wii. I believe it just transfers the ticket, then you download it again from the shop. It will also transfer your savefiles, not sure about mii's (probably). You can use it to change the console id of the wii, possible changing the console id of the new wii to match that of the old, not sure. It has been awhile since I looked at the disc, but you need to load it from disc or from a wbfs partition via neogamma.

Actually, I'm going to try doing that when I get home from work. I've already messed with it a bit and can't copy everything at once because I've got a corrupt save file that makes the copying stop immediately, so I've gotta do it one save file at a time. I was hoping there was an easier way.

If your purchases are tied into your Club Nintendo account, should you just be able to login with that on the new Wii and then the games are downloadable that way? Or has it been so long that I'm remembering it wrong?

So then all you'd need to transfer is saves.

With converting a NAND, the SD slot will still work fine. I've never ran into that issue and I've done it endless times.

With SNEEK, the SD card is disabled by default, but you can always enable it.

This sounds like a good idea. Is there a detailed guide on how to do this? I've heard of SNEEK but I'm not familiar with it at all. Also, if I were to convert my nand and put it on a different Wii, would all my save files and Miis with it? I don't know if those are in the nand too.

Fortnately, both my broken Wii and my "new" one both have BootMii on the boot2 and I know how to do a nand backup to the SD card. I just don't know any of the other steps.

find punetwiin. It runs command line. If you get stuck then ask for help, otherwise I'm not going to take the time to do a full write up right now.
Ok, I'll look it up and try it out when I get home. I've never heard of this and it sounds like the perfect solution. I'll post the results after I attempt this.

My disk drive just died and I got around $300 worth of VC and WiiWare goods tied to my Wii. Considering how flimsy my homebrew is right now (Half the programs don't work any more) I'm seriously considering just sending it into Nintendo, and hope they just repair the drive and wipe all the homebrew stuff so I got a virgin system more or less. (Or will they just tell me to piss off even if I send them the money and haven't pirated anything)

I've heard of people being charged more for having Nintendo repair a modded Wii and I've heard of people being refused a repair.
