why would you want to downgrade to 2.45 ?
or you didn't explain correctly what you want or what you did. your sentence is not understandable. sorry.

the "minimum" installable firmware does not mean you NEED to downgrade to that version.
it's only information to find the minimum version and know if you can downgrade to 3.55.
if the miminum is 3.56, you can't downgrade to 3.55
if the minimum is 2.45, you can downgrade to 3.55

But you can't downgrade without a hardware device, soldering skills, etc.

Hi guys my PS3 is a slim CECH-20xxA and is currently on officially upgraded 4.80. I've come across this website which claims to give instructions on installing CFW to this firmware here.

In my reading online however, I've come across a guide stating that is NOT possible possible to put CFW on a console that is currently above official firmware 3.55. Any help?

just hovering over the link you gave and reading the url name im going to say dont waste your time lol.

It's kind of sad I didn't notice this thread.

Mine's at the latest update... which makes it impossible right? -.-

The only thing I wanted to do was make my copy protected saves copyable. Is it possible to downgrade and is it possible to actually copy saves like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls with the right app?

I made a thread asking but maybe this thread is the best place to ask.

It depends on what PS3 you have. Check this list: http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/SKU_Models

And see if your PS3 has at least a minimum of 3.55 firmware. If so, then you can use one of the few hardware downgraders like the E3 flasher to get to 3.55 and can install CFW.

If your PS3 is too new, and can't reach a minimum of 3.55, then there's nothing you can do.

What's the console model? Look at the serial number CECHXX or CECHXXXX. I downgrade consoles.

I have a CECH-3xxA... so this means it's impossible right?

What if I got my hands on an older version, downloaded my saves to that, and tried it then? Would that be possible?

^That sucks for me lol. I can get an older model and try it then. Just one last question. If I did downgrade it and hacked it, would it be possible to still sign into the Playstation Network?

Correct, it can't be done on your PS3.

You could try an older PS3, yeah. Quite a few people sell 3.55 PS3s online that are CFW-ready, or you could just find a phatty PS3 to downgrade and do whatever it is you want to do.

It's still possible, but you'd need to use some stealth apps so you don't get console banned or anything. I'm not 100% sure on what's best to use nowadays, IIRC it's still PSNPatch or something like that. I'd suggest doing more research on that.

Thanks a lot! In that case, could I theoretically buy an old PS3, update it to the latest version, go online and get my saves, downgrade it so I can hack, make my non copy-able saves copy-able, upgrade it back to the latest version, and repeat the process again if I come across another save that is copy protected?

And I'm really sorry for this convoluted question. I just really want to know if this is something I could actually do or if doing that would brick my PS3.

EDIT: I just realized how much my two hours of sleep is affecting my thinking. This is such a stupid question. Why would I do that when I could just start the game that's copy protected on my hacked PS3 and then make it so I can actually physically copy the save? I could just transfer it over to my slim after.

Yea just ignore this lol. But thanks again!

There are a fair few slims that can be downgraded to use cfw with a flasher. If you can get a slim over a phat model I would go with the slim.

Wow. I made this thread 3 years ago. I hadn't realized it got stickied. It's a shame that there's still no new method to hack newer PS3 models. Even after all these years. :(
