I have a V1 unpatched switch that I want to mod. But there are a few concerns I have.

1. The current firmware on the switch is 11.0.1 or something 11.x.x. I tried adding my switch 2 profile to the v1 switch but it wanted to do a system update so I stopped that and doesn’t show the current firmware anymore.
Is the current version of atmosphere and hetake compatible with that firmware? Or do I have to go back and find versions of those compatible with my switch firmware? And if A is the case, would I be able to update the firmware to 21.0.5 or whatever it was before the 22.0.0 update?

2. I know 22.x.x isn’t compatible with anything so not going to update anything on the switch yet incase 1 can be done. Am I just better off waiting however long it takes for 22.x.x to be compatible?

I'd advise against using an account you use to purchase content, on a device with unsigned code... don't give any reason to flag your account especially if you've years of accumulated content.

Doesn’t really answer my question. I just want to know if I’m able to mod the switch in its current firmware with current atmosphere and hetake versions

Atmosphere and Hekate have support for old firmwares so you should be able to just try it out.
If it doesn't work, just scroll down the releases for a version that was released before FW12.
https://github.com/atmosphere-nx/atmosphere/releases
https://github.com/ctcaer/hekate/releases

Get a RCM jig (or paperclip if you feel very MacGuyverish today) and use a PC/Smartphone to inject the primary payload.
If you want to be a pirate, then setup an emummc for all your pirate cravings.
As long as you don't install any pirated software in your internal memory (sysNAND) then Nintendo will consider your Switch to be clean.
The easiest setup is a filebased emummc, where you don't have to create partitions on your SD card.
You can update the firmware of the emummcto for example FW21 with DayBreak and leave your sysNAND on FW11.

Atmosphere support for FW22 is being worked on and will probably that a few more weeks if all goes well.
Hekate is already FW22 ready.

You are probably better off not updating your sysnand. If you already did then too bad, just use it without mod until the day come when everyone say it is ok.

If you want to fool around use emunand and upgrade to the latest supported firmware version on emunand. Block Nintendo server and you are good to do whatever you want.
