Hacking Is it safe to delete the news and weather channels?

You could also use Red Squirrel's AnyTitle Deleter Mod

heres what you do...First make backups of those channels using waninkoko's WAD CREATOR then erase them if you like with Anytitledeleter DB mod by red squirel and if you ever want them back you can just install the wads you made with WAD CREATOR wink.gif and all is well tongue.gif

So without checking, would deleting the Mii and Shop Channels open up another (roughly) 100 blocks? This is a sweet prospect considering these channels are so sparsely used, and can be backed up!

For those that have deleted the weather channel, have you tried playing NiGHTs: Journey of Dreams? Because that game does attempt to read the weather channel to see if it can change the weather based upon your local region (though if it can't go online, then I guess it defaults to no weather). Wonder how it works with no weather channel?

I'd assume that you kind of need the Mii channel, since a fair amount of games access your Miis and associate saves with them. Just a guess.

yo after i started hacking my wii , it started getting slow....

(im accually wiihacker3000) well i used my broes GBa temp file lol.....

so i installed all ioses ,all cioses ,cios36 rev 10, preloader, bootmii , backup launcher, and 4.0U

oh and when i wana turn off my wii i hold power botten on wii mote then unplug the wii

Well, I went ahead and deleted it.
It didn't delete any of my Miis, just the channel, so games that use Miis are still working.

b) you can turn it off however you want, and there's no reason to unplug it...

After deleting the News, Weather, Photo, Shop, and Mii channels, I have around 2154 blocks (about 265MB)

How many blocks does a Wii usually have?

Searched Google and it seems to be around 2000-2500 blocks

I think 4.0 has a max free space

i deleted them the other day 30meg 30meg 8meg (PAL)

I had 2150 free blocks before 2170 after

it seems 2170 is the max user usable

rest reserved for the wii

it will be less if you have tickets installed

215 tickets is about 30 blocks

i have 2140 free i think nothing on the hd at all apart from tickets rest is on the sd

your actually removing around 500 blocks of data btw
in pal area's atleast

Hmm... I'm a bit puzzled. I've backed those channels with Creator and deleted them with anytitledeleter but the amount of free blocks rose from 937 to 940... umm... Did I do something wrong ? Or ?

edit: each one is there except the mii channel. dont delete mii channel! it's important!
