So i still have a Original Xbox. Not a 360, Original. Im thinking of hacking/modding it. But i dont want to kill it either. Is it possible to burn games and then play on the Xbox without doing anything?

There are softmod options for the original Xbox, but you can't just burn games and hope to play them on a un-modded console.

The xbox controller port is just as USB port in disguise, if you are up for it you can make mods quite easily.
These can include: homemade memory card readers and USB stick/memory card reader adapters to take the place of memory cards.

By and large versions should not matter for xboxes for this sort of thing.

If you have friends with modded xboxes they can copy the required files over as well to your memory device of choice saving you the hassle.

Follow this "How to Softmod Your Xbox Using XboxHDM (Ndure)" guide:
    http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=496263

I used that guide to softmod my xbox and it was pretty easy. Only requires you to burn some stuff to a blank disc, and opening up your computer to connect your xbox to it. No splintercell/action replay required.
