Hi, so, I saw that Kaze Emanuar made Super Mario 64 run at around 60fps on real hardware. I got a N64 and I would like to try that patch he made to the source code. Thing is, I'm not sure if it was ever released, I think it isn't, just wanted to ask here if maybe someone that is more aware than me on those things know if he released his patch or not. I don't have a problem playing the original ROM, but if the option was there to play it with better performance on real hardware then I would like to use it. Thanks!

Also, I guess that an optimized ROM for OOT doesn't exist, right? Since that game has been decompiled too.

I don't keep close track of Kaze's work, but I know that he has released hacks that use his new code. I think he said he was going to release the new source when he finishes his latest hack. (I can't even remember, is it Return to Yoshi's Island?)

You can probably tell I'm not up to date, but if I have time, I'll see if I can find some quotes or confirmation.

EDIT: How long has Return to Yoshi's Island been in development? The demo came out in 2021, so that's at least three years. Considering all the small details and tweaks Kaze's famous for, the final will definitely have a lot of hype surrounding it.

Oh I see, that's enough info for me, so right now guess I'm stickingvwith the original one. Still his RTYI hack looks pretty good, so even if he doesn't release it for the OG SM64 his optimizations will still look amazing for his ROM hack.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I never found confirmation that he's releasing the code. Maybe it was hearsay. I'm not even sure if he plans to release the original SM64 with optimized code.

In general, I wouldn't be surprised if he kept it close, since SM64 optimization and hacks is his business. In fact, he should hype some other projects before Return to Yoshi's Island releases so that the release of a single hack doesn't decrease fan interest.
