Most important question: Will this update prevent me from installing CFW? Because I never got a chance to update my console to 5.5.1, and I won't be able to before the update goes live.

After DSi's 1.4.5 update, it was only a matter of time until flash carts became usable again. It will be the same for Wii U and Homebrew.

You sure about that? The 3DS has a lot of people interested, the Wii U, is only a small fraction of interested developers.

complete newbie here, but looks like my system is still on 5.5.1 (I just installed a new wireless router last week and never connected the Wii U, so I guess that saved me from the auto update)

Anyways - can someone point me to directions on what I can do (if possible at all) to get haxchi installed? From what I understand I need to use NNU-patcher to connect to the eshop, grab a compatible game, and install haxchi. That about cover it? Should I do anything else before starting? Update blockers, etc?

Just for info, this is a stock wii u 5.5.1 with no hacks ever done if that makes a difference.

Appreciate any and all help.

Thanks!

I literally just finished installing Haxchi with Brain Age following this tutorial (haven't done anything beyond "2. installing an entrypoint", in which I did the recommended method.

If I make a new internet connect and just hit in those dns entries, everything should be good?

Do I have to spoof using NNU to be able to access the eshop? I do not see that step listed in that tutorial.

also, where did you get the nand dumper, the link to github doesn't work

You don't need to spoof. Just use NNU patcher.

Link broken? Didn't know. I'll look into it. It's eyekey's nand tools

My steps were turn off internet -> enter DNS in current Wii U connection -> turn internet back on -> test connection -> access HBL via browser.

NAND dumper: https://github.com/koolkdev/wiiu-nanddumper/releases

The link wasn't broken for me. :/

So you're wondering why Nintendo blocked Browserhax, but not Haxchi? The big N doesn't like parasites! If you want to hack your Wii U, you're gonna pay dearly for that Brain Age game, you cheapskate! :D

I'm thinking it was some sycophantic white knight dingus who was a part of the bounty Nintendo set up and told them about it.

Webkit is literally full of holes. If anyone actually cared about wii u we could have another entrypoint in like 2 weeks tops. And thats assuming that Pegasus is patched. If not just port that

So last week after doing a backup of my saves left the console conected and today I hear about the update... I go and check it and its already updated. So for now the browser hack wont work...never got to do the instalation of mocha or anything...the team behind the browser hack will continue working to find a new way? Is there any news of somebody trying to bypass this new update?

So basically my Wii U auto-updated cause i forgot to turn that off and I was too lazy to install Haxchi before so I'm basically SOL until a new browser exploit is found right?
Just buy brain age...
EDIT: wait, you need browser to install haxchi after x), it's too late i guess ! x)

I looked at the list of supported games, I have several of them legit already, but yeah you need the browser to install haxchi which I REALLY should've done already lol

I mean I didn't even realize I had auto-update on, or at the very least the fact it auto-installed it is dumb.

I dont worry too much I already have many of the games I wanted to have already installed on USB drives but wanted to install haxchi (sadly couldent do it because im region locked outside of the eshop so I needed to do a factory reset to put it on other region befor doing all the hacking) This console is really a pain in the ass about those things. Hope a new method is found so I can finish the process, for now at least I have more than enough games to play

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
