Clone cards are usually rubbish, but it may be able to play some games, though support may not be fantastic.

It's worth getting another, legitimate cart if you have the resources though.

I disagree; just because it's a clone does not mean it's garbage.

I have DSTT clones that work perfectly fine. I actually prefer these clones over the originals because I like the SD card slot being on the side.

Domdel, have you even tried to use the cards? Do you even have them yet?

I think you are worrying for no good reason. The NDSTTi Gold is just a DSTTi clone; it can run any unofficial kernel and even YSMenu.

The R4i Gold is most likely an acekard clone, though they have done a good job of covering their tracks in the file data. You are probably stuck using the kernel from r4igold.com. It should still work fine for most games though. You might be able to run YSMenu on it as an .nds file, though it might take a bit of effort.

How can DX sell u crap if u ordered it in 1st place ?
Booth cards will work but booth dont offer more then playing most of the games and some cheats.
Buying fake cards is not that wise when u want support and better firmware.
They cheap sure but thats money saved on the wrong spot.
However its ur money, your time and ur DS.

Also, people get bent out of shape when they ask for support with their AKR4 Platinum Ultra card, and no one knows how the hell to fix it because everyone else knows to stay away from clones.

#1 reason to stay away from clones right there.

Sure it MAY work for you... You MAY be able to play the latest games...
But there's a DAMNED good chance that getting any problems/issues fixed is going to require a lot more effort and research.

Do it for us (us being anyone who might be answering questions for you some day), but more importantly do it for yourself: Buy a real card.

@ the 3 posters above me:
I am sure you have never owned a DSTT so you have nothing to say on this.
The truth is: its REALLY REALLY hard to tell a real DSTT from a clone. They are just the same!!!!!
You can come and tell people to buy acekard all you want but:
DSTTs are really nice cards with simple gui and good compatibility (thanks to scene unofficial firmware fixers).
So ill say it myself too: Go buy acekards
but if you got already a DSTT your ok too!

And what about this firmware?
R4i English V1.15b Date:[2010-1-15]
http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp

I always get this error message:
"Please upgrade the hardware for support latest firmware"

Yes, I know that I don't have the "V1.4" card, but I'm also sure that this is a software limitation and has nothing to do with hardware. YSMenu and 1.17a12 (hacked) are also very nice, if they get updated.

100% agree. DSTT FTW!

Go look at all the stupid shit people are going through with AK2.1 cards. On top of that AKAIO is dead, and it was the only good thing about AK.

R4i Gold is just a clone DSTTi

works just fine with 1.17a2 files renamed

works great and has the r4 type slot for sd card which is much better than toptoy slots
and at $5.80 who cares how long they last

oh and they seem to work better than DSTT 's atleast
i have some genuine DSTT's and when loading the menu in
sometimes you get a slight screen glitch when accessing the sd card on menu boot

R4i Golds dont do it
