Hacking Identifying flashcart- Fixing one for my nephew

So he got a nintendo ds from a friend of my mom and I don't know where he got this flashcard.

But it says R4 sdhc Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) When I boot it says version 1.24.

So I put pokemon white and golden sun 3 on it. Both won't boot!

I decided to update it. Now I see there are a million different R4 with different websites and I dont want to upgrade wrong firmware.

Could someone help me out here? I looked at the sticked thread but it wouldnt make me the wiser.

Ur not helping I already saw that.

I know how to put games on it etc. It's just I dont know where to get the firmware since there are so many R4's.

So I dont know the corresponding website!

You didn't read very far, did you? The link tells you how to find the site to go to for your cart, and even links you to alternatives in case the software for your cart can't be found.

If you read and follow the instructions, you WILL get games to run.

Software/kernel/game updates aren't flashed, it won't brick.

Then it's likely completely different. What about RGF's stuff?

The one I used was also at the site ( I think atleast). So now I updated from 1.24 to 1.32 or 1.34 or something. My new games still didn't run. So I updated to DSTTi DSTT YSMenu V6.96 . Which allowed me to finally run golden sun 3.

However the only thing broken now is lameboy. When I try to load the .nds it just stuck on loading. When it used to work before.. anyone any idea?

lameboy was proboblly DLL patched for the previous kernel

download that homebrew fresh and try again with it

Nope, redownloaded. still says booting/loading.

Im not sure but when the OS starts. it shows like 3 icons game, slot 2 multimedia I think and it auto starts YSmenu if I have to guess? First the menu is all red. Later it's all pokemon. Maybe it's because it loaded this 2nd "thing" it wont work?

Moonshell or Moonshell 2 are also stuck the same way...

I fixed it... the autorun in YSMENU I turned off.. now I can run lameboy straight.

Next question my nephew seemed to use a 2gb microsd card for his DS R4. How big would it support? like 16 GB? or lower?

old carts only supported 2GB max, you might be lucky and it supports up to 16gb but if you have a bigger SD laying around test it first, not worth buying one that you cant use

I just put my 32 gb sd card in with tons of ds games on it, they seemed present so I guess it works. actually didnt want to try that card in that ds for safety reason since I use that 32gb myself but ohwell.

Just got my 16gb card. no games work on YSMENU?? Though I can see all games I put on the card in ysmenu...

All the games that worked though normal firmware, still work through normal firmware.. but games like golden sun 3, pokemon white etc. won't work without ysmenu! But NO games at all start in ysmenu now

Does anyone have an idea?

I am using retro gamefan multi cart update 6.96.

It had many folders. I choose the one with R4SDHC YSMENU.

It worked fine on my 2 GB SD.

YSMENU still launchs on my 16gb SD and shows all games but is stuck on loading on ALL games.

Normal game loading outside YSMENU still works which makes me believe it's a YSMENU issue.
