Yeah this is why it's long and intens, because there's a lot of steps to do these things safely. If I've learned anything doing console modding, it's to take your time and make sure you read all the instructions
yes always double check everyting

Tbh it sounds like your nand got loose when you dropped it
yeah my thought as well but if it did i made sure it was in correctly but still corrupted

Try Gptrestore it helped me.
Maybe it will work on yours too.
Hey yes I saw this the other day but I assumed that you allready had to have a backup to use that, but mine got lost.

Hey, as you can read from the title I'm pretty screwed.
My fan stopped working and I decided to replace it myself, this was stupid and I knew I could screw up, but I love opening things up and fixing it myself even knowing the risks.
But I opened it up and unplugged the battery etc and replaced fan etc and everyting went well, though I accidentally dropped it on the screen one time while doing it, but it didn't look like
anything was damaged or loose or anything, I don't think this was the problem but I don't know for sure so. But when I booted it up again it booted to the nintendo boot logo and got stuck. Not like a boot loop but it just showed that screen even after hard resets and everything. It still boots hekate and the theam xecuter os selection screen (yes I bought sx os and activated it on that switch) so the switch was working so I was thinking that maybe the switch' nand was corrupted or something, maybe power was on while I disconnected battery or something, and looked for my backups but they are gone for some reason. I also can't find other people their backups, if that would even work. I was kind of desperate and so then I thought I'd just reinstall the whole firmware by following the tutorial How to install/run ANY Switch firmware UNOFFICIALLY (WITHOUT burning any fuses), but now it only shows a black screen when I power it up, so I don't know. Still boots hekate and sx os selection screen though, and I could try linux. But if you have any idea how to fix this plz help..

I had the same problem after following the guide - could load hekate but black screen after. I got in contact with rajkosto and he explained that there are some versions of windows that do not properly set the archive bit on files transferred to the switch.

The solution was to install Total Commander, mount SYSTEM, and open the /Content/registered folder. Within Total Commander, select all subfolders (ctrl+a), click files -> change attributes -> check the "archive" checkbox. Then close total commander, unmount the SYSTEM and reboot. It worked after that.
Somewhere buried in the thread he explains the problem / solution as well, but that is the gist of it.

It's very possible that you damaged the hardware when you dropped it but this is one last thing to try.

Give it a shot. Good luck.

Are nands unique to the machine? Presume they are but just a thought could try another one from a donor. Guess this is advanced cert / unique id replacement if this ever happened though.

Again like I say just a musing
DO NOT do this! Are you familiar with cell phone IMEIs this stuff is unique! Basically the CPU is married to a specific CPU identifier and if it can’t read the unlock code on the nand or vice-versa the unit will be dead dead and you will have to find out how to hard mod it to save it then and you would have to somehow come up with the correct code without knowing it

Maybe you can also try to dump again from the nand the boot or ect... Just to see if it is working and your nand is proberly installed... Maybe you get an error while trying to dump... If so check if the nand is proberly connected to the switch...

oh oke. This could have been the fix, but I think I created another one with the tutorial I followed. But if I fix that problem maybe this could fix the original
