I need your help - a recent loss...

A close friend of mine and my friends' has passed away very recently due to a skiing accident. She was only 17 years old, with a long life ahead of her. I need your help, and here's how.

Myself and a few other guys have a school a cappella group - TTBB (usually 4 or 5 guys, depending on who shows up). We have been asked to perform a song at her funeral, and we need to have a song to practice by tomorrow night.

I wanted to know if you have any suggestions on a nice piece. It would be even better if it was already arranged, but if not, suggestions are still welcome and appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

First, let me say I'm very sorry for your loss.

It may be a little dated (and possibly overused), but I've always thought that the Boyz 2 Men song, "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" was a very stirring a capella piece at a funeral. I know it still reminds me of a close friend that was taken far too early.

I'm not familiar enough to know if it is well suited for a TTBB, but I thought I would throw it out there in case you hadn't ruled it out already.

And as a standby, Amazing Grace is always well received.

As a side thought, sometimes it is also appropriate to pick a song that would have held special meaning for your friend, and sing it as a tribute to her life, even if it isn't necessarily a "funeral" song.

Hey man, I too am sorry for your loss, and sorry I didn't chime in earlier.
I hope things went well at the funeral, and that you and your friends are adjusting to the loss, though that's obviously a long process.
I had a good friend die when we were in our early twenties, I still think about the magic the world lost when he went.
Keep a memento... I still have a box of HavaTampa cigars my friend gave me as a joke for my birthday the year before he died.

Them were some nasty tasting cigars! Hoo Boy! Whattaguy...
