Gaming I can't connect to Pokemon battle when using CIA.

Hi i'm trying to battle my friend. He is on legit copy and I'm using CIA. We both have pokemon Y 1.5 version. Getting errors all the time. Any way to make this work? Cheers

edit: it is worth mentioning that he is using shit mobile wifi. may that be the case?

Have your friend tied piggybacking off the free Wi-Fi at a Target or McDonnalds?
The Free Wi-Fis at Target are decently fast.
