Hacking How to restore 3DS from CFW to stock to return

my friend bought a 3DS XL to replace his with 11.2 and hacked it, however 11.3 just became hackable he can still return the new one and go back to the old one now that its hackable. How can he return to 100% stock and then clean format so he can return it?

Restore a NAND backup from before he installed a9lh, or use SafeArm9Installer to uninstall a9lh.
