I'm considering hacking a Switch for a friend which I want to keep offline, because I assume I can't simply connect to the internet and make an account for him on a new 4.1 Switch without it asking for a system update. So if he goes without an account, will he get 'link account nag' often in games? I don't feel comfortable using the Kefir method either as I've never used it before and don't want my friends Switch to be the guinea pig.

I hacked my Switch on 5.0.1 when I already had a linked account so that's why account linking is all sorta new to me. Thanks for any input.

You already know your two options: Use Kefir or update to 8.1.0 and setup a linked account.

Are there any risks updating officially to 8.1 right before hacking? Did Nintendo implement any measures in later updates that may hinder running CFW? (Such as create any new nags or anything?)

Like I said, hacked my own way back on 5.0.1 and have never taken it online. Just want to be absolutely certain.

Other than burning fuses and preventing downgrades, there is no harm in updating an unpatched system to 8.1.0.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar

@Xdqwerty you can use a "spawner" function on any object.

Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
