How does someone get the types of kiosks you see for Nintendo Switch at places like Gamestop? Do you need a store? Please let me know. Ty.

Yes, you need to be an official retailer to obtain one from Nintendo. Otherwise, you'd need to get lucky and find one locally secondhand, whether through some store liquidating its assets or some shady character on Ebay. It will be incredibly expensive either way.

You can usually purchase one when your local GameStop closes, or if you're lucky they'll leave it out by the dumpster.

These things are generally incredibly rare and expensive - whether that be devkits, kiosk mode units, or special units like the ones used for Nintendo Zones.

Why? It's simple, ordering these units from Nintendo needs several layers of NDAs that won't permit selling or giving the hardware in any way and people interested enough to get a devkit won't get themselves permanently banned from anything to do with Nintendo for some eBay cash.

Sell it on eBay or wait until you have over 100 posts to access the marketplace.
Actually, I heard that eBay is incredibly strict with the automatic banning of accounts that sell high-ticket items before being established.

Obviously I don't know if they are lying, but I heard many stories of eBay's automated bots permabanning you with no way to talk to a live person to get it sorted out.

So, to OP, I would be cautious when using eBay. When they ask you to submit things like tax info or identity verification, do it ASAP else you are at risk of being banned.

It's pretty challenging to get them. Kind of have to know somebody that has them at a retail location and is wanting to part with them or is closing down. Can't just get them from Nintendo. Being that not all gamestops or retail locations have them, there have been very limited supply

To enrich one's collection, I guess? I personally consider them a nice piece of Nintendo history so having one of them would be a huge deal for some collectors.
It's a shame that they are hard to come by based on where you live and are really, really expensive.
