Gaming How do you talk in Terraria?

Seriously. I joined a server and don't know how to talk.

I googled, but I just get people asking how to talk to NPCs (not actually type text), or stuff about other games.

Or if by talk you mean through a mic, you can't and will have to start a group chat through Steam.

And now the server I connected to isn't responding so I can't log in and try it...

I use either Skype or mumble for voice chats. The steam voice chat is awful.

And jesus fucking christ, I can't for the life of me find a server to join. All the ones I'm finding are either down, or password-protected and it's all "Fill out this form and install teamspeak so I can interview you over voice and then I'll give you the IP, and then if you perform fellatio on me I might give you the password, and if the background check works out then maybe I'll let you out of the jail you spawn in by default! "

Jesus fucking christ, the game sold 200,000 copies in a week, you'd think the guys behind it could hire somebody to implement proper online so you don't have people giving their IPs out on forums and making people jump through hoops just to play.

I just want to play the fucking game.

Nah, I'm mainly looking for something with a couple people I can get on and learn from.

And mainly looking for something non-hamachi... I don't like the idea of having to install a third-party program to play a retail game that uses multiplayer as one of it's main selling points.

Oh I've got steam in offline mode since my net's flaky here, and not signed into friends since I just got it yesterday and wanted a minimal number of things to pop up while I was getting used to it...

It's likely to be his SteamID, aka his login name meaning that you won't be able to search for him. He would have to setup his profile first before being searchable.

Despite that you should be able to add him as a friend using his SteamID if you want though.
