You need to realise that the world actually consists of more than the UK. Also Im seeing prices double yours, so youre full of shit. You also need to take into account currency conversion.
Plus Australia fucks us hard with prices
We're pretty close with you guys it seems.

Perhaps you didn't look hard enough then, it's not £18.99 as he said, but £19.99 for Splatoon here, and £24.75 for Yoshi here.

I get what you're saying, that the world doesn't consist of only the UK and these prices are specifically to certain stores here, but perhaps you should look harder before saying somebody is full of shit? ;)

Yeah the uk price of splatoon is certainly an oddity and not the norm. Guess Nintendo must be trying to boost wiiu sales here.

Fair enough, but Yoshi's price translates to $60AUS, still expensive. Splatoon being so cheap (stil $40AUS) doesnt really take away from my point that wii u games are expensive as fuck, its only one example out of the entire library.

Also 19 pounds for a game in the UK doesnt help anyone outside of the UK, so its not really relevant.

You guys see the point of what this discussion is and it is true that everybody wants things free but there might be exceptions. A same game which is sold in different region has different price range. That is what leads to people condoning privacy. One game sold cheaper in one country but fairly expensive in another. Mario kart 8, which has been out for a year, is still sold at the price range between $49.99 and $59.99 in the USA and I am pretty sure that it might be more expensive in other countries. But if Wii U is region-free, we can shop online for a bargain. If the same game sold in one region is more expensive than the others, then we could opt for the game sold cheaper in that region. Besides, like you guys said, if we buy one or two games then we will have shoveled out the money of a day's worth of work. If the price of the game is within people's budget, like $19, then people might not condone pirating because everybody could afford it as long as they have a job (even a part-time job).

Another bad thing is that only certain number of copy of video games are sold and they are hardly ever on sale. If the game is sold out and you don't get it the firsthand, then you won't be able to get it BRAND NEW anymore (talking about a physical copy and digital download is worthless) unless you buy the game from ebay or amazon. but those bastards who sell the game will raise up the price so freaking high. If you guys check out Wii Sports Club for WII U, then you should know what I am talking about. Nintendo sold this game for $39.99 BRAND NEW, but now this ***** game is sold out, if you want to buy this game you have to get it from amazon or ebay. The used copy of this game is much more expensive than the brand new one sold by Nintendo. That is why it leads us to pirating.

Exactly. Games like Ico/Shadow of the Collossus collection, metroid prime trilogy, pikmin 2 on GC, theyre all games that were on a limited print and now as a result, are $100-$200 each. I wouldnt have played these games at all if it wasnt for piracy.
Also I dont think region free would solve any problems for AUS users, as the currency conversion, shipping and taxes would fuck us anyway.

Cheaper console games, especially eshop titles (which are more fucking expensive than physical copies for no reason) would definitely curb piracy. I have over 100 games on steam simply because Im willing to pay lower prices for games. But nintendo games on the eshop are $80

I'm pretty narrow-minded when it comes to piracy and finances. Anything that saves me money for games I will do.

Hack a nintendo console
US psn account
Buy from discount online stores as apposed to buying local.

I don't care. As long as I save money which can be put towards more important things.

If you want to pirate, just pirate, don't try to justify it. I don't pirate, I'm against it, but I have far more respect for people that say they pirate because they want to rather than coming up with an excuse to justify it. I was a teenager and I pirated back then, I get it, but games are still wants, not needs. Money tends to be rough, even now I'm not exactly swimming in it, but I make enough to buy what I want now.

I tinker with homebrew because it's a hobby, and I do enjoy the benefits. I'll buy hardware needed to dump my games so I can have the benefit of emulation or backup loading legally. The Wii's load times are normally unbearable, but running those same games from an USB HDD via USB Loader GX cuts down those load times significantly. I also don't have to worry about my disc drive wearing out or getting up to swap games.

That said, I do think Nintendo should be more willing to start discounting their games after they've been out for a while. It's silly to still see launch titles at full price. In the end, though, they're still wants.

Here, a new copy of Wii Sports Club is 32 € on Amazon. You piracy faggots need to stop whining. If you can't afford something, you don't deserve to have it/get it so stop excusing yourself. Just because Ferraris are expensive cars doesn't somehow give a panhandler the right to get his hands on one because everyone who sells cars is so capitalistic and evil. Too bad for you, maybe drop out and find something that fits your pocket better.

You're right only on the region lock part.

If you don't have the money, don't buy the games/buy them used/go retro (wii is a great nintendo console and games tend to be cheap, for example). Games are expensive to make, they can't be free or ridicously cheap (while I agree some games are too expensive, like Splatoon in NA)

That's still $47AUD before shipping costs for what's essentially shovelware.
Edit: With shipping, it's $67 for some crummy sports game. You're proving nothing, other than how much of a huge dickhead you look like online.

That's fair enough. I'm not going to argue that games are expensive no matter how you look at it. I was just making a point that they can be found cheaper if you look hard enough. Given that the RRP for most games in the UK is £39.99, to get a game for £18-25 a month or 2 after release is quite a decent discount. The thing with Nintendo titles that I find here is, they'll go on offer once or twice, then they mature and the price slowly creeps back up. XD A lot of Wii U games still being sold new for more than £30 and they're over a year old.

Anyway, as you said, these cheaper prices don't benefit anybody outside of the UK though.

Speaking of being fucked with currency conversions, we always get stung here in the UK with currency conversion on Collector's Edition games. One example I can think of was Titanfall. $250 in the U.S. and £250 in the UK!! Don't understand how companies can justify it. >.<

Anyway, back to the topic, where piracy is concerned. Some games I pirate, most games I buy. As somebody else said, whatever can save me money is fine. :D

I have a Japanese WiiU but don't live in Japan anymore. I just want to be able to walk to the local game shop, buy a game and play it like everyone else. Fck Nintendo and their regional lockouts. Can't wait for this to be blown open.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
