My friend had problems with Brawl, basically after the first battle in the story mode it cuts off and says to remove the disc and read the manual, so I updated his Wii to rev16, now he has a ton of problems with games freezing up midway through and everything, this wasn't there before, all his games except for Brawl, which btw does the same on my Wii work fine, but I have the disc version too so I don't care if the story mode doesn't work from USB Loader since I finished it long ago, the rest of the game works.

Anyway, now he seems to have spin down problems or something from what he describes, he plays all his games from a hard drive with USBLoader GX and says the music in his games stops and then they freeze up, rev14 didn't do this for him, it started yesterday when we updated to rev16.

How I go back to rev14 safely?

awesome, thanks.
I just wanted to make sure because this guy's Wii can't do bootmii at boot2 and it's not my Wii.

So is rev16 like this for others as well? Is it spindown problems?

I'd try rev15 for Smash Bros. I've never played that game, but it's dual layer, and if I've been reading things right, you want rev15 for that. Keep in mind, this will probably break other stuff, so maybe keep the installers for rev15 and rev14 (or whatever rev you like best) on your SD card, so you can go back and forth.

I don't know if rev16 causes spindown problems (I would think that would be a hardware issue with the drive), but there's a whole bunch of people calling it buggy in its own thread, so maybe.

its safe to work with cios installs, they are not system related, so even if it screws up ie a power outage during install you should not encounter any problems

just use hermes 222 for dual layer discs. it loads brawl no problem. the reason it freezes after the first battle is because the videos are stored on the second layer and cios has a hard time with dual layer discs.

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol

I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
