It's true, we don't allow dupe accounts here, even in this situation. I understand what the OP was trying to do though, so while I have to ban the dupe account, no other action will be taken.

I won't out the OP, but they should know that 'tempers are on the whole a pretty understanding bunch. I'll leave it up to you to decide to come forward as your actual self in order to respond in this thread or not (and yeah, mods know.) Again, no other action will be taken (unless you create another dupe.)

Taking it slow, trying to get to know someone vs/ up and asking someone out? the problem, at least a problem I've had, is when there is a girl you like and you take the indirect, beat around the bush, start off as friends approach - she will think of you as a brother. I would suggest just going for it. It always surprises me when a female friend starts dating someone out of the blue, and the story always goes "they just asked, and I was like sure." And when I tell a female friend of mine (friend because anything else is out of the question NOW) that I'm sorry about all the 'hitting on' when we first met, the answer I usually get is a confused "You were?" or worse yet "huh, I thought you were gay!" Anyhoo, I guess what I'm saying is, if just asking the girl out is too daunting and you plan to make friends first, at least be overt with compliments that may at least be close to 'hitting on.' And don't buy her anything until you are dating, seriously, you will shoot yourself in the foot if you do.
