To get everything understood.

SYSnand=9.2
EMUnand=10.3

installed agb patch to sysnand
Tried to install agb patch to emu- failed.

install to both sys/emu nand = cia

Cia doesn't appear in SYSnand
Cia appears in EMUnand but doesn't run gives error when I run it
"Error occurred turn power off"

Also its to be noted they are UNLINKED.

AND:

I get a empty black box in my EMUnand after installing CIA to sys.

It goes away after I delete both though.

I want to run emunand with gba cias. is this possible at all? if so please explain! Thanks :)

Hope that made it clear

If the two are unlinked, you need to install the same exact CIA on both Sysnand and Emunand.

I'm not sure what your problem is, I installed all my GBA stuff without issues.

Not really mentioned much because most people seem to not have any issues with it.

This is what I did. it didn't work!
Can you explain your exact way to get them to work?

As said in OP:

I-

installed firmware patch to title mentioned in AGB firm patch thread.
Overwrite? Yes. Done.

Now. Install same CIA to both sys/emu
Done.
Now try and play on emunand = error
Doesn't even appear in SYS

:(

You said CIA didn't appear in sysnand, Are you really sure you actually installed it.
For me, they appeared as presents and I just left them alone

Positive because I had to delete it to make the black box on emunand go away.
I have one present on sysnand = youtube.

I don't open or use it.
:( this is frustrating.
Do I need to use the agb firm patcher successfully on emunand too?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Must I be on fbi ON SYSNAND?
Cuz I did use FBI on EMUNAND to install it to sysnand/

is this okay?

No, no and no... You have to boot rxTools into sysnand, then open FBI and install to SD in order to install it in sysnand.

Then boot emunand, open FBI/BBM and install to SD in emunand.

NAND VS SD DOES NOT MEAN SYSNAND VS EMUNAND IN FBI MENU.
ahhhhhhh

Okay. I will try this. one sec.

YUP. exactly right tony. thanks much !

I also noticed that if you try to go to rx via browser exploit. it fails on sysnand after being in RX mode

9/10 users having problems with gba cias are the exact same problem, they tend to think that FBI menu means
NAND = SYSNAND
SD = EMUNAND

And that is totally wrong.

To install something with FBI in emunand, you launch FBI while you are in emunand.

To install something with FBI in sysnand, you have to launch FBI WHILE you are in sysnand.

NAND is where the system updates and DSiware games are installed.

SD is where every other game and app is installed.

It's pretty easy to understand...Why would anyone think that NAND on FBI is actually your sysnand...Lol

you are running in emunand...EMULATED nand...where all commands to the nand are redirected to the emunand...I ask again, why would anyone think otherwise unless they are arbitrarily installing stuff without the slightest understanding in how it is working. Heh.

Because not everyone has equal knowledge to yours about everything.
What may seem obvious to you may not be as obvious to someone who isn't as knowledgeable about the subject.

It's certainly true that a large percentage of 3DS tutorials are written with the assumption that the reader knows the difference between SYS and EMU nands and the reason for that is because these two things are staple concepts within the scene. EmuNAND allows dirty pirates like me to play free games AND it let's the people who can't sleep at night because they downloaded a $2.99 shovelware 3DS rom purchase games legitimately from the eShop whilst retaining hackable firmware.

And sysNAND, well that goes without saying, if you mess with it and it goes sour, you've got a stylish paperweight. Hence why someone who plays around with it should be well versed on the differences before attempting said tutorial involving CIA installation to one's sysNAND. The info is there, the average user just wants frii gamez ASAP and demands to be spoon-fed unfortunately..... I'm not attacking OP here, just about the forums in general :)
