Hacking Help with update

Hello people, i'm looking for some help here.

Yesterday, I updated my Wii through Wii Sports Resorts update (I have the original game), which was necessary to play it. However, since then, my GX Loader doesn't work. Every time I try to play anything, it goes back to the homebrew channel window, without any warning or error message.

My Wii is 4.2. Sorry for any missing info, but i'm just a newbie about this topic. I'm really needing help, since i'm afraid my Wii won't play anything anymore.

What should I do to fix the problem?

Well, I would take a guess that because you used the update on the (Wii Sport Resorts) disk, it's changed one of the custom Ios on your Wii that allows things like the HBC to run properly.

So I would guess you will need to re-softmod (I 'm guessing that's how it was done originally) to overwrite the affected cIos.
I would recommend using ModMii to re-softmod, as this will download all the latest files required (yes even modified ones of updates usually found on disks) & you should get back to 'normal'

And in future IF a disk (or Nintendo) offers to update the Wii - DON'T - search the web (or re-use Modmii) to update the required cIos instead (IIRC - also in preloader there's options to prevent being told of updates which I recommend having switched on as well)

Luckily you say you're on 4.2 - so you won't need one of the required [genuine] disks to softmod

The update will probably have overwritten your cIOS which GX uses. A removal of a stub cIOS and reinstall of cIOS will be required. If you're using a USB Loader, why use disc? Isn't that like having a dog and barking yourself?

When you say "re-softmod", you mean reinstall everything, since the beggining? And I knew that I shouldn't update, but in a case similar to mine, it had worked without problems, so I thought "why not try?". Sad moment.

Is there anyway for me to know which cIOS should I reinstall? Asking your question, my Wii came with the games. As I said above, I had a terrible idea. Just it, really.

You choice of cIOS is totally up to you, I use rev20b as I personally find it faster than rev21 but some people feel differently. Both of these are the 2 most recent rev's, so the choice is yours. Install multiple cIOS's with the installer using different bases WAD's (i.e base37 - slot 247, base 57 - slot 248 and base 56 - slot 249). Install priiloader as stated above, and enable the hack for 'block disc updates'

No - not really, sorry for the confusion

What I meant to say was something like -
Depending on how long ago your Wii was softmodded it MIGHT be a good idea to run ModMii to download the latest cIos & then install them, as improvements may've been made to them - but NOT do a full 'virgin Wii' softmod as you will lose all your saves etc (unless you've backed them up that is)

IIRC there are options in ModMii that allow you to do this (can't check ATM - @ work & I can't get through their firewall to download), although I'm not sure if ModMii can actually check to see what cIos you already have installed on the wii to compare with the latest available (I'm sure Xflak can give more info about this) but you should be able to at least download them

Finally, everything is back to normal.

I used ModMii to download the cIOS and reinstalled 249 (probably the broken one, thanks to the update) through Waninkoko installer, manually.

Thanks to the update of Sports Resort, Red Steel 2 is working perfectly too.

Edit: Actually, not everything is back to normal. My Wii Sports Resort is asking for update again, and my Super Smash Bros. Brawl iso shows a message of "Please insert disc" whenever I try to play it.

Can someone help me a little bit more?
