Hi all

can i JB iPhone 3GS 4.3.3 (8J2) BB 05.16.02 without upgrading he baseband to the iPad one as i do not want to run the risk of losing the GPRS OR GSM whatever its called lol not a technical guy as you can tell.

what is the safest way forward now to jailreaking the iPhone and unlocking it to all networks?

Thanks in advance.

Good news: You can jailbreak your iPhone 3GS. I don't mean any offense, but I'd suggest becoming a bit more familiar with the iPhone's technical parts before jailbreaking. Of course, I can't and won't stop you.

As for the best jailbreaking method, you could use redsn0w or JailbreakMe "Saffron." iFish and I are doing our best to make jailbreaking simple in the guide, but don't hesitate to ask any questions you have. Jailbreaking can get tricky at some points if you're new to this!

This is optional, but I'd highly recommend using iFaith to make sure you can always use iOS 4.3.3.

Bad news: The only way to unlock your iPhone (use it with other carriers) is with the iPad baseband, which results in that dropped GPS functionality.

Not much has surfaced regarding it, I'm afraid. There was actually a "fix" floating around, but it makes heavy use of warez and it's not seen as a true fix.
