The Nyko Miniboss Wireless control has a power button that works as home / reset button for the savestates, buy it!! it's very cheap.

Yeah the same as the 8bitdo pads. Also if you use a wii classic controller the home button works as a reset to the nes mini console so I assume it's working out and replicating what ever the home button command is on that (I have no idea how hard that is ha)?

@Cluster any way of getting a fix for mapper 64?? been trying for days to get rolling thunder (us version) to work.
This mapper is basically Tengen's version of the MMC3 so maybe to possible to port this game to MMC3.

@Cluster Is there a better command line setting for Metroid FDS and Doki Doki Panic ?
Metroid has very long loading times between elevators and Doki Doki Panic skips the intro
I have not tested it. You can try different arguments.

Hi guys, Im new to this and have been at this for a few days now. Im trying to do this on a mac. I downloaded parallels and windows 10 and have been stuck at the "flash custom kernal stage" for a while now. I dont know much about windows and downloaded it just for this. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Try to move hakchi2 to another folder/disk. Seems like pathes is the problem.

This would be incredible.

Edit: Also, any plans to implement the command line argument to the original 30 games? I'd love to kill the filter on those as well.
I'll keep this in mynd. I need uart cable to do it but I have unsoldered it and assembled NES Mini. So I'll try a bit later.

@Cluster Hi, Im new at this and wanted to ask a question about dumping the kernel. The first time I used Hakchi2 it was and older version and when I tried to upload some games it didnt work, I realized that the thing I did wrong was not dump the kernel and flash the custom kernel. Now I just tried the newest version of Hakchi2 and when I tried to dump the kernel it gave me the MD5 Check sum error. At that point I stopped because I was Unsure to proceed. Can some one help?
Please read FAQ in the first post.

Hi guys. Ive heard battletoads usa rom freaks out after 2nd stage. Did you guys make a patched working version? If so, how? I can only see a command line arguement mod to fix the blur epilepsy effect.

Also do any other games like castlevania 3 or ninja gaiden 2 freak out like battletoads and need modding?[/USER]
Please read FAQ in the first post.

Yes, the classic control has a home button too, but the NYKO Mini Boss is wireless!! And cheaper than the 8bitdo :D

Question about the mapper fix for Micro Machines in 2.08. I updated to the latest version of the tool today and added a few games (including Micro Machines), then reflashed. All went smoothly, but when I started Micro Mahines the menu graphics were pretty wonky. There would be a vibrating white line towards the right side of the blue main menu screen, and the little car display case that shows between races was kinda bouncy. The racing, however, seemed flawless. Is this normal for the "fixed" mapper version in 2.08, or is this precisely the issue that 2.08 was supposed to fix? Was I supposed to do something manually to "fix" the Micro Machines file before adding? Any feedback is appreciated.

Although it is a Japanese font set, it was wrong type of archive, so I fixed it to ZIP and attached it. The data itself is the same.

Don't lose your time, doesn't work :(

Too bad! I tested on FCEUX 2.2.3 and didn't work properly.
Thanks anyway.

What resolution box art is everyone going for?

I try to use the best "image quality vs. low size res" - 500x600, 600x900 and so forth.

Original picture size and resolution doesn't matter. If you check image resolutions in the games folder you'll find out that all the pictures have been converted to png format and resolution is as follows 140x204 box art and 28x40 thumbnails. Filesizes are also very small, roughly 70kb big ones and 4kb thumbnails...

Codemaster games pretty hard emulate. They are insane about timings. So they are glitchy on many emulators.

@Cluster The Gauntlet is MMC3 mapper but appear with graphics glitches and isn't playable. Any solution?
Gauntlet uses four-screen mirroring but NES Mini ignores this flag in .nes file headers. Last version of hakchi2 checks this flag and warns that game will not work correctly. But Gauntlet II should work.

@Cluster Any chance to run Gradius II (japanese ROM) on NES Mini?
No way :( Until somebody ports other emulator to NES Mini.

Hello ! For me, it works with hakchi2 v 2.1, but not with v2.08. It is noted either " failed to read from pipe" or "

It's on the same PC. Can you help me please ? Thank you.

It's normal if you already flashed patched kernel. You can find answer in FAQ.

@Cluster
I've got Doki Doki Panic title screen to work by adding this command line code
Code:
--fds-auto-disk-side-switch-on-keypress
This has no effect on the loading time with Metroid FDS but it's okay.

On New Ghostbusters II (European version HAL) i've tried
Code:
--nes-version=[pal]
That didn't do a thing, then i tried without the brackets
Code:
--nes-version=pal
And that did something to the music, it sounded like it was skipping frames.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
