Hi guys.
Well.I am new here. I installed the YSmenu on my R4 .Games and homebrew works fine and games save faster. Its really nice. However when I use soft-reset ,it just stays on the loading screen.Just want to know whether anyone got the soft rest to work.

Hi.
I have a M3Simply and use YSMenu to play backups that are not supported by the native firmware. I'm happy that works, but if it's used as a 2nd dashboard (placing it in another folder and then running it), the .sav files that were created by M3Simply doesn't work. Dunno why, but can't load them. Anyone has a clue of what can be the problem? Just curiosity.

are all your games and sav files in the same directory ??

for games to see and use the SAV files they a) have to be in the same folder as the game file and b) have to be EXACTLY the same name as they game name!

eg game1.nds game1.sav together in a folder called games1

game2.nds game2.sav together in a folder called games2

etc etc

you can have more than 1 game in a folder but need to have the correctly named corresponding sav in the same folder with the same name as the game!

That's obvious, that's why I ommited to mention it... But then I'll explain it better:
The games and their respective .sav files are in the same folder and have the same name.
That problem only happens when the YSMenu it's loaded as a second dashboard. Try it.
YSMeny can't load the save (it doesn't exist for it) nor overwrite it. That's why I say it's just curiosity

Anyway, thanks.

Here's a good question, I think. If DSTT updates their firmware, do we have to through that whole rigmarole again to create the firmware for the R4, or can we just replace a few files?

If we can get away with just replacing a few files, which ones?

If nobody say this...releases 1965, 2000 and 2116 works fine with this firm.

This games dont work in another firm of R4, only in this.

When i start a game, ttpatch debug starts and loads until step 14 and then it says:"write reload bins..." and nothing more happens, seems like it freezed?

someone can help?

You would need to do almost everything again. ttextract extracts a few bits out of the files, so you would need to do that again for a new version of the DSTT software.

First of all thanks for the guide .

2nd of all I cannot find the file to download this YSMenu to test it out

I don't see it anywhere. The guide from the first thread is out of date.Someone please update it

Look under DS(T_T)DS.......

I seem to be having some issue with 7. Now run ttextract.exe, that will generate ttpatch.dat, ttdldi.dat, r4patch.dat, then delete ttextract.exe.

When I run ttextract.exe this is what I get. (ttpatch.dat, ttdldi.dat) I have used 1.15 and 1.16 DSTT Firmwares with the same result. Any ideas??

1st: 0x4F358, 0x10000
2nd: 0x5F35C, 0x16400
creating ttdldi.dat
creating ttpatch.dat
patch start: 0x1E198
patch const: 0x1E1B0

Sounds like you're using an old version of YSMenu/ttextract.exe. Download the newest one from Yasu's page and it should work.

I have the same problem here. This is about the third time I've gone through the whole process of setting it up. The first time some games worked fine but the newer ones would give "errcode=-7" and freeze. I eventually came to the realization that it was because I was using pitifully old DSTT firmware (like 1.07), so the newer roms probably just weren't supported yet.

I downloaded the DSTT 1.16, which seems to me to be the latest, and repeated the process, getting the same issue as bizzi: it would start the patch/debug and just as it looks like it's about to start the rom it freezes. I then backed up all my files, formatted my card, and repeated the process yet again with the same result. All the steps in the guide seem to go fine and homebrew loads no problem, so I think I have the latest versions of everything.

Suggestions as to what else I can try would be appreciated. Until then I guess I'll be putting R4 firmware back on.

Im in the same shoes >.>
IMO it would be a bit easier for n00bs like me if some1 would be so kind and upload the already patched YSMenu :/

It would indeed be easier. Until Mr Yasu gets upset and boycotts. Then it wouldn't be very cool, especially for all the folks that got it working themselves.

That's just selfish. Yasu doesn't want his program to be distributed like that, so everyone with a bit of respect doesn't upload it like that.

If you want to run YSMenu the easy way, use R4YSauto. It doesn't do anything that Yasu wouldn't like, but it provides a relatively easy way to use YSMenu on the DS.

I update it regularly to add new features and keep it compatible with the latest versions of YSMenu and the DSTT software and it has an automatic update function, so if you install it once you will probably be set for a long time.

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I feel kinda stupid for not noticing it despite having looked right at it in the stickies list...

Anyway it was a huge help, thanks a bunch. Still don't know what I was doing wrong, but I can take a look at that later I guess.

anyone with freeze problem
please use ysmenu 0809132222 instead of 0810211800
for my r4, until now the reset wont work because 0810211800+1.16
before, it uses 0809132222+1.15 everything just fine
tried to restore previous, but soft-reset problem still persist

Sorry for the noobish question , am i to understand that ysmenu loads gba games with no need for a slot 2 device?
